Installing a 4” lift with 285/65/20 on a 2018 tundra. Did anyone have to get the dealer to do any reprogramming?

I’m assuming you’re referring to the speedometer?

It's a possibility you'd need to do the speedo because you're rotational speed changes. But most fix it with a tuner like the bullydog.

@dirtydeeds carries them and is one of the coolest vendors around

I was told to lift it, align it and then shim the VSC under the back side to nose dive it then get the ZPC.. sound right?

I was also told you could disable the VSC. Might just return the lift. It’s getting to complicated lol. Truck is a 2018 with 700 miles on it

The shim is only used if ZPC doesn't work. I've seen a penny used as a shim. Remember a lot of folks here experience no issues at all.

You will enjoy the lift and probably over complicating it. Just lift and enjoy it. Lol

Lol thanks guys. It’s just making me nervous since it’s a brand new truck and my only ride. Would it still be driveable for about a week if I had these problems? My nearest dealer is 100 miles away. And thanks for the help. I been researching my brains out

If you have the dealer install...... any problem would be taken care of then. That's probably not much help...although you can do the ZPC yourself if you need to. All you need is a level surface.

I asked the dealer to. They said no because of these possible problems and liability. I called another dealership and they wanted $85/hour and said I was looking at 6-7 hours plus any programming fees.

I had a Toyota dealer do my 3/1 lift without any hassle. It was worth the piece of mind for me knowing a Toyota tech did all the work

Vendeta2k do you mind be asking what they charged you? My lift was $549 and just to install it without any programming would be round $600

I believe they charged me around 400 including an alignment. It took them around 4.5 hours to install and another hour or so for the alignment....so it worked out to roughly $80 an hour which is their going rate on accessory installs, not the normal shop rate which I believe is around $105 an hour

Thank you. That’s reasonable. I’m going to call around today and check other dealerships within 150 miles.

Service shop @ my dealer told me they were ordered to stop installing lifts because of liability. Works out because their prices were nuts anyways.
