    Hi,

I have a 2004 tundra with the 4.7 ltr v8. My truck has 214,000 miles on it.
I have had my Transmission torque converter replaced this year.
In the overdrive gear between 50 and 70 mph my transmission will begin to slip in and out.
I am taking it to the shop to replace the shift interlock solenoid to see if this will fix the problem.
My local Toyota dealer in Killeen Texas. Says a rebuilt Transmission will cost 3600 with a 1,000 core charge.

Is this worth replacing or just sell the truck?

Depends on the condition of the rest of your Tundra.

I just reinvested back into a 2002 Tundra to the tune of around $5k last year rebuilding the front end, new tires, blah blah. In my case, my mechanics said I was just getting started with 155k miles on the clock.

Bummer on your transmission. These can be built better than new and tailored to your driving style. I’d do it as your engine has another 200k miles easily left to go.

That price sounds about what I’d expect for a reman’d unit turn key out the door with warranty.

I would search car-part.com for a used one. A quick search in my area shows several available with less than 100k miles for less than $400. I searched a 2WD.

i'd always vote to fix. I certainly wouldn't use the dealer for that kind of repair, if i didn't do it myself i'd use a transmission specialist.

If you're getting a really annoying shudder that goes away when you put it in tow/haul mode then it's the OD lockout.
