I've hunted all day for info on this but I can't seem to find what I need. I'm trying to remove the lower dash piece. The one with the temp controls, cig lighters and usb port. What I've seen shows people pulling the center console then putting their fingers under the dash piece and pulling. That's not working for me. I want to pull the lighters and replace them with dedicated usb sockets.

What's the trick to getting a hold of that thing and getting it off?

Pull straight back - it'll pop out. Put your thumbs in each of the 12v power plugs, grasp the side and pull straight back. It'll come.

As I remember there are 3 or 4 clips across the top. I used a plastic removal tool. I slipped it in until the panel loosened at the top and came out easily.

Again, as I remember I found a stereo removal video online that showed how it came out. Sorry, If I was on my desktop I have pictures and a link for the video.

If you don't have the center console, you need to remove that bottom panel first then stick your fingers in the cigarette lighters pulling down and out at the same time..5bc96f7b346f17aba2fe3cb429ae2286_5d81abf6d3a924cad9394378b914c011049f4c8f.jpg

    Flux capacitor!
If you ever want to take dash pcs off your truck I highly suggest you buy a plastic pry bar kit. One like the one attached sell for $18. These tools will make pulling your dash part out a lot easier without damaging your truck. IMG_9066.jpg

Couldn't agree more. I keep a set in my truck since these things are built like Legos. Everything just snaps into place.

Yeppers. I've got one of those sets. I don't have the smaller ones though. Those look handy.

    Finally got it popped off.

Those trim tools really come in handy! I've used them to remove dash pieces, bulb covers to switch to leds, and even removing my tail light. Can be used Everywhere!

I removed my lower dash to change out the 12v outlets.
But what is this plugged wire plugged into back of blank switch cover?
    Grey/black wires.

    My 2014 has that too.

I've never been able to figure out what it was for..
I have a few other unused plugs in the dash, but they are for options my SR5 doesn't have..

My Limited has a glass break sensor in that spot. Maybe yours is pre-wired?

Finished project today, since I had 2 dual USB plugs I did the back seat too.
Since I'm not running dual batteries yet I left them to only power on with the key.
