Refuel light on

Full tank. Opened gas cap but that didn't work. Any ideas why I have this light on?

 

Well, the gas cap would be my first go to.

Disconnect the battery for a while and reconnect. That would be my easy second go to procedure.

 

Curious as to why opening the gas cap was a thought?

Trying to understand more about how the newer truck determines how much fuel is in it. Does it have a sensor to know if the cap is open?

The 2007-2017 just use the float to run the fuel gauge and tell the cluster the amount of fuel to calculate the range.

The 2018 might have more sensors or way of reading the data

 

Omg. Filled up tank ,2 gallons. Light still on. Took to dealer,never seen it before. So on 5 miles ride home ,sob yaaaa light went off. So no solution buts lights off.
