Hey, first post to the forum. Apologies if this is listed somewhere else, but I couldn't find it with a search.

I have a 2007 Tundra 4X4, with a 3" lift. Inner boots on both cv axles are ripped, and I was told it was likely because of the lift.
Any recommendations on aftermarket boots to compensate for the lift?

    Thanks!

    What lift do you have?

Edit: you did say 3" :anonymous:

I honestly don't see how a 3" lift could damage your cv boots

Ours are OEM sized but they are make out of a better quality material that is also more pliable so that they don't rip and tear as easily as OEM does.

I didn't think three inches was a big deal either. My son, who offroads and is better versed in this stuff, said that it was enough to affect it.

I'm gonna order a set. How hard are these to replace and what grease should I use?

Not hard, just time consuming because it had to all come apart. We like to use a 50/50 blend of Swepco Moly 101 and the Bel-Ray CV anti-seize grease. This is also the same mixture that all the race teams are running.

Thanks for the info! Once I get the spindle off can I just pull the outer cv off and install boots or do I need to remove the whole axle and press them off or something?

My techs here said pull the whole axle and removed the inner CV because it comes off easier. Once the inner is off, the boots slide right off.

these guys have been selling quality OEM rebuilt CVs for years. Way cheaper than buying new, and they do the work. They have an upgrade option 4x4boots for lifted high angle cvs

    Hey @sdhq_offroad!

Will the boot material stretch enough/properly so a pneumatic tool can be used during installation?

    Thanks! Be safe

I'm not quite sure what this tool would be used for...... Our boot just slides onto the axle when the CV axle is being serviced ( I.E, removing one side of the CV's for cleaning, service/repair, etc)

Thanks for the response @sdhq_offroad! I just notice the pic doesn't actually tell the functionality of the tool :facepalm:It's a pneumatic tool that assists the installation of the boot by stretching it into place. Here is a video of a similar tool showing the functionality

I can't say that our boots have ever been used with that...... I wouldn't particularly recommend that.
