Possibly thinking about trading in my truck. If you recently traded in or quoted your truck, how much were people offering? I have a 2018 SR5 CM TRD Off Road with 25k miles (thanks pandemic + WFH for low mileage)

if you want to know the trade or sell value of your truck hit KBB.com it will be right in the ballpark and then you can negotiate from there with dealers. Also, Carvana may offer even more than what truvalue shows on KBB

2020 sr5 crewmax 4x4 TSS package, 6700 miles. Leather, completely stock except tint. Paid 43k July 2020, got $48,867 5/31 this year. It was a no brainer for me. I got into a 2021 nightshade crewmax Tundra for basically an even swap here in TX with the trade in tax savings. Dealer matched a Carvana offer.

    2018 Crewmax SR5 4x4 with 46,000 miles

local Ford dealer offered me $39K before I even talked to CarVana

I traded my 2020 platinum it had 11,700 miles on it I bought it new in June 2020. Traded it last week on a 2021 Expedition. I paid $47,500 new they gave me $58,000 trade in Indiana.

I should add I was looking for a Sequoia for months and none popped up $58,000 was trade offer from a Toyota dealership but Ford matched it because I had it in writing. It was basically they match or lose the sale.

You could just be a gentleman and sell it to me. Been looking for quite some time for one. I can’t compete with the current trade in values though.

BE6F0683-B092-466A-AC76-3B0BE50FCA4D.jpg The silver truck is my ‘19 Platinum. I paid $46k plus tax when new and added a Bullet Liner, TRD dual exhaust, TRD shift knob, window tint, led interior light package and a Truxedo Sentry CT roll-up tonneau cover. I had just $50k in it with all the add-ons, including the sales tax on the truck. I traded up to the black ‘21 Platinum, which had an MSRP of $3500 more than my ‘19….for $5766 difference including tax. I was given $51,964 for my trade. This was after I removed $2800 in add-ons: the $1000 tonneau, the TRD dual exhaust (the dealer returned it to the stock exhaust and installed the dual TRD on the ‘21) the shift knob and led light package. When all was said and done I traded up 2 years on a truck with $3500 more in options for $2300. Crazy times we are living in.

Wtf are the idiots out there buying a used vehicle from a dealer for more than MSRP of a brand new one. Are people really that desperate? Only had 14 years to get a gen 3 but now suddenly realize they have to have one now!

The dealers don’t have any, and no one wants the new twin turbo V-6. And a new F150 is 60k

I personally was hoping for a 10 speed auto and some tech added to the 5.7L and 20mpg

What others got “in trade” really doesn’t tell you much.

I offer you 45k - but leave out that I overpaying 5k to try and rid youof 5k in negative paper equity to make the deal appear better to a bank. Reality is the “true” trade is 40k.

Want a value - use Carvana/Vroom/Shift/Carmax and average the 4 - if you beat the hugest your getting a good trade value assuming you are paying sticker or below on new.

The market is VERY much in flux on used - prices spiked in March and are slowly coming down in some parts. What someone got in April or January are probably stale numbers and not useable. Remember a lot of people are selling trucks for profit they bought a year ago and many are near what they paid 2-3 years ago on resale today. What someone paid or got is meaningless- it’s what YOU can get today that matters.

At the moment, meaning the 2021 model year, it does seem like people are being idiots... However inflation is going to catch up and the price of a new Tundra is going to increase significantly (this applies to all manufacturers). The price of raw materials have skyrocketed...Toyota is going to pass the price on to the consumer as will every other manufacturer. Now add in the ramifications by the virus to our worldwide supply chains.

I feel, based on America’s current trajectory, that consumers are going to to shell shocked by the new MSRP’s coming. IMHO it will have very little to do with the “new model year”.

Based off of that, if I needed to purchase another Tundra today I would pay these prices because of the uncertainty of the future (whether my opinions are right or wrong). For me the writing is on the wall...

Interesting - I had my 2015 Tundra LTD Crew Max loaded with 43k highway miles at my local Toyota dealer getting (4) new tires, new front brakes, and an oil change. Service manager said one of the nicest and cleanest 2015s he's seen in a while. So seeing these high trade values I thought lets see what they would allow me for mine on towards the new 2021 TRD Pro Tundra they on the lot. Came back and said current trade values for mine with the new tires, etc. mint one owner condition was only $33,500 towards the new Tundra. I didn't even respond!! Happy to keep mine for many more years.

Hmmm....just went online to Carvana just to see what they would offer for my 2020 SR5 TSS with 21k miles (bought in Sept. 2019)...I did have an idiot hit me in the passenger side for $3200 in repairs (he got ticketed) so I guess that's why they only offered 36k...It's paid for so I will keep it....

Just got this offer yesterday from the dealership I originally bought it from when I took it in for maintenance.

    Year: 2017
    Model: SR5
    Mileage: 63k
Price: $38,500 (Paid $37,316 for it new in 2017)
    State: TX

The offer sheet they gave me showed it having a MSRP of 42k, so I guess that’s what they think they can sell it for.

They did tell me they lowered the offer because they couldn’t Toyota Certify it because it had a lift. That doesn’t make sense because they’re the ones who put the lift on it. It was lifted already when I bought it. I wasn’t interested in selling so I didn’t bother arguing about it.

With all these quotes and trade in values, the only thought in my head was THIS. If dealer is vehicles for this much, think about what they're selling new ones for. CRAZY!

I netted about a $44,300 for my 2021 SR5 TSS when I traded it for a 2021 SR5 TRD Sport in May. Both RWD. Paid about $41,300 for it back in December.

Of course during both negotiations (purchase of TSS which included a trade and subsequent trade for the TRD), I was using my own trade and purchase numbers when making my offers and counter-offers. And what were my final trade and purchase numbers did not match the final paperwork, but the all important drive-off amount certainly did.

In the end, I would have been slightly better off (just dollars..not considering the value of driving the TSS for 5 months) just buying the TRD back in December, but back then, they did not have any on the lot, and frankly I was just too ignorant on the various trim levels and package options to know what I really wanted. All I knew was that TSS looked BadA$$!. I learned a lot from Dec to May (part of that credit to this forum) and consider myself lucky to get into the TRD Sport for what was still a decent price when all was said and done.

seeing how people are selling their low mileage Tundra and get a newer one, very few of us get to 200K on the same truck imo.
3rd gen tacomas are anemic and everyone wants one but yeah I hear you. V8 vs V6 turbo.
Toyota has a huge fan base no matter what they release.

I just got a 07 Tundra, original owner that really went far and beyond taking care of it. From what I’ve seen, I got a smoking deal... 80k Miles- zero rust. There are deals out there. That being said, I’ll buy a new 21 before paying these used prices. Or I may get a new 22.
I can’t think of to many vehicles Toyota produced that are in high demand, that turned out to be junk. Toyota knows they are behind the eight ball in the profitable truck market- why would they make a crap truck to compete with the other companies... to be further behind. Not a very good strategy.
These high prices just prove that the demand for a excellent Toyota full size truck is in need.
