My very oddly optioned truck came with the most base mirror available, pretty much the same mirror that's on my 94 Camry. I don't have all of the cameras so I know I won't get the panorama but even an auto dimming maybe homelink would be cool. Anyone swapped mirrors on one yet?

Have you called the service department? They can tell you what parts you'll need. You'll need to replace the outer mirrors as well if you want them to auto dim. Toyota sometimes prewires their vehicles due to standardizing manufacturing so upgrades are pretty easy to add later.

Yeah. Another bone head move by Toyota. A truck over $50k gets a basic manual rear view mirror. :smack: I am getting a TRD Sport and it only gets the manual one also. Seems you have t go Limited to get it, at least here in Canada. My 2020 TRD Sport had auto EC mirror w/ Homelink + leather + moon roof. All gone for the 2022.

I don't think you need anything but the mirror itself and the chunk of wire harness that plugs into it (hard part to get as it is part of the entire headliner wire harness). Unless they changed it for 2022 the sensor is in the mirror itself. The Toyota parts are costly. I looked up the 2020 mirror and it was almost $1200!!! I am sure one could come up with a simple solution to the wiring. Just have to hope there is a switched power up by the lights....not sure there is. I am looking at aftermarket options and also auto wreckers to see what I can find.

Or at least give us home link buttons or something! Agreed. Wish the mirrors at least gave us some kind of tech... following in case you find a solution. I didn't realize the truck didnt have a homelink garage opener till after i brought it home.. even my 2018 wrangler sport had it standard.

One of these should work, but I was unable to find specifics on wiring.

    https://www.voxxelectronics.com/gentex/auto-dimming-mirrors/

I'm not even sure if there's wires in the headliner to hook it up. I remember my 2010 had the full harness for the backup camera although it didn't come with one. As long as you had the tow package. One weird thing is I was at the dealer today (bought a 22 Lunar Rock SR5 DC) . It has the premium audio, and I asked the salesman if I could see one of his trucks on the lot that had the 14 inch screen because I wanted to see what it was like. He took me to a truck that was waiting to get detailed that was exactly what I had except crewmax SR5, and was Army Green. It had the mirror with the auto dim and homelink, so I'm hopeful.

Homelink is a nice option. However, the camera-mirror me don’t like. I have it turned off. Dimming is overrated, just flip the damn knob down at night.

Take the above with grain of salt from a guy also likes manual transmissions.

PS: I have personally started relying on back up cameras, and I do hate it. What happened to right hand across the passenger seat and backing up using your own eyes?

This had got to be the pettiest thing by Toyota. I'm disappointed it doesn't have homelink as well. I read somewhere it was just the Crewmax 6.5bed , that didn't get it. But if theres a sport without it, then that's previous statement can't be true. You can only get a crewmax sport with the 5.5 bed.

I had the oddest thing happen to me with my truck. I ordered an SR5 with off road package. My sticker said I had the regular mirror like you’re saying. I was in the same boat as you contemplating my options. The dealer said your cleanest option is they make a home link module. You can order it from Sparks (I would speak to Roman at Cool Springs). Anyway the truck comes and I have no idea why but it has the digital mirror. Not sure if there’s an option added or package or a mistake.

The digital mirror is cool for about 10 minutes. If you get the homelink module it should work as well as the mirror.

But I agree it’s a cheapo crappy thing for them to do since homelink would probably cost them nothing in the grand scheme of things.

I have this one in the garage. I’d be willing to let it go for a lot less than retail. It is in perfect condition.

I'd, say you have a package that has the digital mirror. Just looked, it's included with the advanced technology package and the advanced off road technology package. My truck coming has the most basic TRD OR pkg.

I don't care for homelink but a bigger mirror on my Sport would be nice.

I did my mirror today, bought a PT374-18220 Auto Dm Mirror for a GR86 frameless, clipped each connector off ,soldered the wires together and replaced the pins to the right corresponding location in the 5 pin harness and reassembled , 155 out the door, and it works! this wasnt plug and play but with slight modification it was and looks factory.

I was going to get that one but it was quite expensive, the three wires that are in the truck headliner were ground, 12V constant, and 12v key when I used my multimeter , Im in the process of doing a small write up but i didnt take pictures of my install and im waiting for bare connectors to show what I did. I used the factor toyota mirror and clipped the plug from the mirror and soldered the wires together to make a plug and play piece. This was the connector in the headliner console. No toyota truck wires were cut, I used the mirror wires and put them in the correct plug and made sure the plug pins were in the correct pin location.

@Spdfreak91 Did you just pull out the overhead console where the map lights/sunglasses holder is to access the wiring? I'm assuming you didn't tap into these wires...upload_2023-1-17_9-44-7.jpg
