Finally did my rear shackles. As usual nothing went that well

got wheels off and everything ready to start. Try to press out leaf spring bushings and the ball joint press I rented had the threads all messed up. Tried to clean it up with a tap but no luck
Lost about 30 mins messing around with the press

try drilling bushings and snapped a few bits so decided to try and borrow a ride to another auto parts store to rent a new press

lost about an hour but got the press and finally got old bushing out. Still had a lot of rubber residue inside leaf eye which was a pita to clean out. Used torch and screwdriver to scrape away

Then went to install new poly bushings & sleeves and they were too long

cut both the bushings and sleeve and finally got them installed. Just wrapped up. Haven’t driven it yet but like the look. Used 1.5” shackles

At least you got it done. The OEM bushings are a pain to remove. Those of us who actually took the time to remove them went thru the same bs to get them out. Some removals are worse than others. Worth it in the long run:thumbsup:

Guessing I ordered frame bushings instead of leaf bushings. Hope that won’t cause any issues

Now. Wondering if I should have swapped frMe bushings out also would have been really easy while everything was apart

I dicked with one of mine for the better part of a day before finally getting it out. Said eff it for the other one and paid a shop $50 to do it in about 15 minutes. So yeah, they suck to remove.

I haven't heard of anyone on here about replacing the frame bushings. Maybe some have, but I think there would be less ROI than doing the shackle end bushings.

I reused my frame bushings on my 07. The spring bushings are the ones that really need to be replaced. Did you use poly bushings with your new setup?

Yeah. New poly bushings. Just hope I don’t have any issues from modifying them. When I got the sleeves I did my best to make them same size as old ones, but worried now I’ll get noose if they are slightly off

You should be ok if they are trimmed the same length.

From what I've read, the frame bushings are already poly. Should be gtg.

It helps if you have the year of your truck in your signature.

Hope it is ok. Had to eyeball and used a saws all. Looking back wish I would have taken more time to mic the sleeves and get them closer to spec

anyway- so far like the look and ride and no noises or squeaks yet. Hope it stays that way
