Ok so I'm statting to get a little frustrated about this, at first i thought maybe these brakes needed to have a break in period but now im at 1800 miles on my new 2019 2wd crewmax tundra and this is till happening. When i apply the brakes you can hear a metal on metal noise from the back driver side. It only happens when i apply the brakes, worst part is it does it sometimes and sometimes it does not, so im sure if i take it to the stealership they will not be able to duplicate the noise, plus i rather attempt to remedy myself. It only does it when coming to a stop, if i stop on a dime no noise, but under normal stoping conditions like when approaching a red light you can hear the darn metal on metal sound. Any suggestions?

Could it be the clips around the pads?

Excuse my ignorance, but the clips are on there tight, not loose at all from what i can tell, would they have to be loose to cause this at such intermittent occasion.

Have you pulled the rear pads? Do you see any etching on one of the rotors. I had a rock somehow get lodged in the pad and it screeched and gouged a line in the rotor that was plain as day.

The wear sensor clips sometimes make that noise if they are not seated correctly. That would explain the intermittent noise.

I have not pulled the pads yet, with it being a brand new truck i was hoping it was a break in period noise but it still hasn't gone away. I have inspected the rotors and no etching at all, pads arent loose either..... would sensor clips not seated correctly cause any scratches on the rotor?

Just bring it back to the dealer, it's under warranty. If you can hear it and duplicate the noise they will fix it. Don't take it apart yourself. If you take it apart and find something that would have been fixed under warranty, the dealership could blame you for the problem.

    Eventually yes.
I would go back to the dealer also.

I agree, however, like most darn issues that are under warranty, the universe always seems to allow everything to run perfectly when it goes to the dealership, im also debating to just let it go until it guess worse and everyone can hear it at all times, but dont want to damage anything.

Maybe a stone caught in the pad or backing plate. Try back up and applying the brake to dislodge it. If you want to avoid the dealer your could take the wheel off and have a peek for a stone.

Thanks guys, i will definitely try to do what i can without getting too in depth where the dealer could void any warranty. Hopefully this isnt the start of some bad luck, this is my first new vehicle i have ever owned, i left the Ford family to get a RELIABLE Tundra, in the bigger picture its not that big of a deal as everything is working fine but it's my New truck you know.

    As suggested ^^^.

Find a moderate hill with little traffic. In neutral roll down it backwards and jamb on the brakes. Repeat a few times. Watch/listen for improvement.

Today the Tundra was really making this noise pretty good. Narrowed it down to creaking, like when you are jumping on the bed and the springs are making noise, however only happens at low speeds like when coming to a stop and only when the break is pressed at a medium strength( not light not hard breaking). I got some really good video of this so tomorrow its going to the dealer. I will update as to what they find for anyone else that might come across this issue. I wish i could post the video but i cant figure out how.

Take the truck and video back to the dealer. You said the nose is more evident now so the dealer should be able to find it. Like I said previously, if you mess with it the dealer may blame you for causing the problem.

Thank you I definitely will, I haven’t messed with it all. They told me the noise was coming from my airbag system and when I asked them where they said they couldn’t tell me they just know that’s where it’s coming from. I think the video will help tremendously thanks again

To add my two cents, my new to me '14 had the same problem. I took it to the dealership and they told me it was fine. I took it home and pulled the rear wheels off and found that the inside pad clip had been digging in to the rotor for a long time, long before I had it. I doubt it was original brakes, but they were Toyota brakes, the truck has 90K. I decided to reseat the clips and the screeching went away. So I used the opportunity to upgrade the rotors to Power Stop all around. I now don't trust that dealership to do my oil changes, even though I have a couple free ones.

The dealership looks at non Toyota things that have been added as potential problems. You may have to remove them to convince them that it's not related but give it a shot first.

It took 4 tries and for me to tell them to check the axle run out before they could find it. They fiddled with brakes and brake components and nothing helped obviously. Thank goodness for the forums as one user here told me the same thing happened to his 2019 trd pro with 500 miles.

Agreed I’ve never let them change my oil either when it all comes down to it nobody loves my truck as much as I do I use OEM oil and OEM filters and keep my receipts they’ll never be able to say anything about it..... axle run out?
