When at low idle I've got a rattle. It seems to be coming from under the valve cover on the driver's side.https://youtu.be/w68zSuEQMds

Please help. My best guess is it's an oil pressure issue but I'm just guessing. In will increase in frequency as rpms go up until they get above 1500ish and the it will go away. Comes back as rpms drop. It's less frequent as the engine heats up. Truck has about 168k.

Probably the VVT. It’s normal. There are threads on here about it.

If the noise is from a bad chain tensioner...

"...There are 4 tensioners there, the one that I’ve always seen fail is the primary chain tensioner on the driver side. You can confirm that is the one by removing the oil filler tube and looking inside to see if the plunger on the tensioner is flopping back and forth..." @ViktorG

Were you able to resolve the issue? Mine is making the same noise and trying to get my game plan together to fix it.

6 inch lift. Dual exhaust. Air intake. Tuned.
I'm having the same exact noise coming from my truck now. Is it a chain tensioner?

I had that noise in my truck. I did a Seafoam oil treatment and drove about 100 miles on the Seafoam, then drained the oil and added fresh oil an Liquid Moly Cera Tec. The noise had already gone away with the Seafoam getting in there and doing whatever it does, and the Cera Tec is well reputed for quieting down a noisy motor.

Most likely. But there are two noises in that video above. The quieter one is normal valvetrain noise on vvti or dohc engines. The louder slappy noise is one that is most likely the tensioner not working correctly.

Yeah mine sounds like it’s coming exactly from the top of the motor. By the oil fill port.
