So I just got done putting RTV on the timing cover of my 2013 GX460. Not a fun job at all. Anyway. The directions say to assemble parts in 15 minutes. I had the cover on and some bolts tightened under the 15 minutes. By the time I got to bolt 16 of 34 the 15 minutes was up. Will this seal still hold since I took longer than 15 minutes to complete all the bolts? I’d say I took about 20-25 minutes total. Thanks.

I would think that you're probably OK, what RTV did you end up using?

I used the Toyota seal packing 103(FIPG).

And ok. I hope so. I would hate to have to do this again, but if I do at least I know how. I wiped off some excess off in an area I was supposed to wipe off excess and it was still wet when I did it. Hopefully using the better RTV than the factory will help.

should be fine as long as it was applied correctly. Do not start it for a full day if you can as well. this allows the FIPG cure much more.. but a few hours will be enough too, i just tend to play things extra safe

Since the cover was mated to the other surface before you had enough time to tighten all the bolts, i still believe you will be OK.

Instructions say that it fully cures in 15-16 hours. I’m not touching or putting any oil in till at least Tuesday. I have to work tomorrow and then start putting all the parts back on. So many parts, hoses and gaskets that I’m replacing before any oil can go in so at least it will have plenty of time to cure.
