I'm installing a high pressure mister pump in my outdoor kitchen. And am thinking about a way to wire it up to a switch, so that god forbid i have to open the door and bend down to flick the switch on the pump.

This outlet is in the middle of an outlet string.

Is it possible to wire in something like this, so that the switch would power the pump, the outlet below the switch would still work, and wouldn't interrupt the string of outlets?

The pump has a regular 110 plug, i was thinking if i could just get a female cord and wire it to the back of the switch and plug in the pump.

Is this possible or am i trying to burn down my house by thinking i can make this work? I'm open to more solutions to my first world problem ;)

What’s the amp rating on that pump? Most that I looked up via the Googles are around 10-12 amps, so I’d be worried about running anything else on that circuit.

I would wire that switch to another outlet inside the cabinet, and plug the pump into that. After making sure your amperage ratings are safe. Especially if those exterior outlets are on the same circuit as your garage or other exterior outlets.

10 amps I believe. Only other thing on that circuit is a small beverage fridge.

    It's on a 20a circuit

Nothing else on the circuit other than a beverage fridge.
The outdoor kitchen is on a 20a circuit

I'd also be fine just having a single switch that turns on the pump without an outlet, just need to make sure power still goes to the other outlets

So I would connect the pump to the load side of the switch, and then use the same neutral and ground for the pump on the switch?

I'm not sure how to connect the downstream outlet.

Alright, I think this makes sense now.

    What you guys think?

I'll just wire nut the lines together and have some jumpers coming off

    This worked perfect.

Got everything wired up this afternoon. I used wago's and was an absolute bitch to get it buttoned up. Thanks again for your help with the wiring diagram.
