I don't have one, but I have only heard good things about the Tekonsha P3 brake controller...

I just picked up a P2. We've had them in our trucks at work for a long time. They're predictable and easy to adjust. I like the simplicity.

The P3 might be great, I've never used one. Stick with Tekonsha either way.

I recently put a P3 in my 2nd gen - it has amazed me. I highly recommend it.

I have one on my 2014 and it works very well. The trailer I tow is 9200ish pounds.

I’ve got one with the ESP kit collecting dust on a shelve since moving from a 14’ to a 17’. Let me know if you’re interested in it.

Same here. The factory IBC was junk, even after the dealer performed the tsb.

Again I'm not much help, but you should be able to figure it out by checking www.eTrailer.com, and typing each vehicle info in and selecting the proper equipment.

    Still rocking the stock height.
I towed last weekend with the IBC, it was ok, but would not let the family ride with me. I had the TSB done on it. Thinking I may pull it and get a P3.

Is there any warranty voiding issues if I install an aftermarket controller? I can't see how there would be if I'm not cutting wires or anything.

No warranty issues at all with installing an aftermarket controller. I've installed them in my last two Toyotas (Tacoma and Tundra) and never had any issues when I took it in for maintenance. I actually had a Toyota dealer help me unscrew the wiring mess my RV dealer did when he initially installed the controller in my Tacoma.

Thanks. I think I'll be swapping my factory controller out soon.

Just installed the P3 this past weekend, is it supposed to be powered on all the time or do I have defect? Will it drain my battery? Also I used the Toyota harness for PNP.

Nishibot, it typically stays illuminated for a while. It should shut down the display if you let it sit long enough. I thought the same thing last summer after I installed it on my Land Cruiser, but then it does shut down. I love the controller, works great.

    *Note* I have a Gen 2 - 2013 Tundra with tow package.
Here's some photos of my P3 install. Maybe this will be useful (or confusing ) to someone else. PM me if you want more details on how I did this... Basically, I had the factory brake control wire harness in my glove box. So I used that to lengthen the P3 harness so it would reach all the way from under the foot well where the factory brake control harness is (see photo of red square- that is factory connector where you plug-in) to the little cubby with the cig lighters... which is where I mounted the P3. I cut the bracket that came with the P3 to get it to sit farther back. Also cut a hole in the back of the cubby to fit the P3 connector thru.
