I'm thinking I might need to build a little wooden cabinet on the north side of my house (between the house and the fence) to store propane cylinders and jerry cans in. My back yard gets a lot of sun and my shed especially (where I'm currently storing my propane and gasoline) gets very hot. I suspect the safety valves in my propane cylinders are popping in the heat and that's why I seem to empty them so fast (not to mention that it can't be safe to have all those flammable vapors building up in the shed).

Just wondering if anyone has built anything similar. I was thinking 2x4s and plywood. Not sure what to do for the top. Would shingles be overkill? If anyone has pictures or even plans of one they've built or any suggestions for other things to consider, I would greatly appreciate it.

Side note: I would also do a latch on the front so I can throw a padlock on it. Not that we're in a high crime area or anything like that but why leave the opportunity open for thieves?
