Surprise surprise I'm thinking again... I know a lot of guys don't like the procomp lift bit I was curious if that was just the 6in or did you not like the stage 2 with coilovers as well? I like the looks of a 6 in lift. I know there are lots of votes for the BOSS kit but I'm assuming you guys wheel a lot where I won't as much. My offroading would mostly be hunting. So I guess my question is...is the stage 2 procomp lift a bad idea or if I really want a 6in should I go BDS or Fabtech for an extra G? Like I said not much wheeling will be done and I don't wanna break the bank. Input needed. Thanks

The 6 in stage 2 I was looking at have the coilovers so I would assume that'd be a little better for the offroad factor for the little bit that I will be doing. I just don't know if it's worth the extra grand to get a bds or fabtech when it may be overkill for what I will do with it. I hate to use the term but it's gonna be 75% mall crawler 25% offroad

I've seen the 6 inch pro comp stage 2 and the 7 inch BDS with C/O for about $700 difference.. check around you can get better than a 1K difference:)

Mainly for looks but also functionality. I can get 35s on a boss lift but I like the height of a 6in lift. I don't want the suspension to be absolute junk but it doesn't need to be super high end for what I will be using it for. I'm looking for middle of the road

If you're just wanting 35's, I'd go with the Boss kit. If you want 37's, go 6". Just my opinion. But hey man, if you want 6", rock it.

Even 700 is more than I'd like to swing. I'm hitting my limit with the procomp price plus rims tires etc

If you're not gong to off road and just want the look drop the Coils for now and get the lift for $1300 cheaper.. that will at least cover your new tires or rims with that saving

Agreed. I just bought the procomp stage 1 with the prorunner front and rear shocks. Going to upgrade the shocks later. I was in a similar situation as you with the tires wheels etc.

Having ridden in similar vehicles, both with 6" PC lifts, I can say definitively that the Stage II rides a LOT nicer.

    (Break break)

If you're loooking for trail functionality, and ground clearance if the undercarriage, a bigger tire is what you want. If you can stuff 35's on a 3" lift, you are ultimately getting the same undercarriage clearance as you would with 35's on a 6" lift. The 6" will get your body off the ground a little more (which is why I went with the 6" as well; this was solely due to the longer wheelbase)

I'm not really sure why I hear a lot of folks trashing the PC stuff. If installed properly, kept clean and maintained, it does exactly what it was designed to do.

I bet when you actually look at the days you offroad it will come significantly less than 25%

That essentially means 1 week out of the month you offroad daily. I have significantly overestimated my needs prior.

I have the stage one lift. I bought it that way. I do take my truck out in the sand dunes to take my kids around. As long as your careful the spacer should be fine. I may upgrade to Stage 2 front later unless we go from quads to 4seater sxs. I wouldn't use my truck in the dunes under that situation. As for the other two options if I was to start with a stock truck I would personally go with BDS and Fox shocks. Wouldn't even consider the Fabtech but that's just my personal opinion. Pics just for reference.

18x9 Fuel Beast +1mm offset. 35x18x12.5 Renegade R7 MT. No issues as of yet. Going in tomorrow for a re-alignment (part of the warranty).

Had the same setup on my FJ for a tad over 3 yrs and almost 61k miles before the shocks started showing signs of needing a rebuild. My FJ was NOT treated nicely btw. LolIMG_3626.jpgIMG_3628.jpgIMG_4539.jpgIMG_3536.jpg

Wheels n tires were 1400, the lift ran 2900 installed after rebates. Justifiable for me given what I tend to use my trucks for.

@Bear do you know if upgrading is as simple as ditching the front shocks/spacers and putting in the coilovers? I upgraded a 6" to 8" on a F250 years ago. Huge PITA.

Pulsar Edge V3; MBRP side dump exhaust
Ouch. Man. Guess I was lucky back in the day. Our club did a lot of things with the 4WP guys...I got that install free on the FJ. They were charging $800 normally. It's who you know, not always what you know that makes the world go round???

Having done several kits on multiple vehicles over the years, I will say this...these days my time is more valuable than my money. I don't regret having someone else do the work on these lifts. CuttIng the cross member alone and replacing the spindles (pressing bearings and such) is worth it alone. The rest of the stuff is relatively easy

Best I could tell...looks like the major difference in the two kits is the coilovers and MX6 shocks out back. The small block and add-a-leafs look the same. Not sure what kind of pain it is getting those massive coilovers in upfront though. I reckoned n you'd have to tear apart most of the front suspension linkage.
