I'm not trying to be a hater - and sorry if the dealership posts around here, but I found this funny. They seem to run an operation similar to @Roman, specializing in Tundra parts. Saw an Instagram post yesterday about "we got ahead of the demand" and that they had Pro Grills ready to ship. I've already placed an order elsewhere, but was curious so I asked pricing... Response below.

    ----

Thank you for the email and your interest in a TRD PRO Grille.

$909.42 For Grille with Hood Bulge, plus shipping ( $40.00 flat shipping rate in lower 48 states).
    Total: $949.42

    ----

I get they are on the grind but geez. Response to my followup about price - "Moving forward after the current orders are filled the only way you can get one is by having a registration with vin number of currently owned trd pro."

Only thing similar between them and @Roman is the "Tundra" part.

Roman is head and shoulders above the rest!

They are like the people who buy out the hot xmas toys and sell up at a big markup on ebay.

Right. And I get if you or I did it, but its wild to see actual Toyota dealers going so far over sticker on factory parts. Maybe I am ignorant to the business - but I always liked to believe parts sales were somewhat protected from massive markups.

    Free market...

If people are willing to pay for it I guess go for it I. Not my style but I get it.

That's a dealership for you. I was at my local dealer this weekend for service and they had in their showroom a base model SR5 DC Tundra with a spacer leveling kit, bushwackers and wheels and tires for a $9,000 mark up. They called it "pro series." It cost more than my Pro. The worst part was there was a couple was drooling over it. I had to walk way before I made a scene.

Agreed. I am all for free market economics. However, the dealer has likely taken other's special order grills that came earlier than provided, and is turning around and selling them at a marked up cost. Sounds a little like crony capitalism to me.

I wouldn't disagree with that. I personally wouldn't spend my money on a truck or parts at the mentioned dealer...but I won't judge them as anything other than trying to separate a fool from his money. :)

I'm amazed that a vehicle bought 2 years ago might be worth more than i paid.
This is pure stupidity from my point of view, but don't get me wrong, I like it!

The only thing that changed which I didn't upgrade (installed IBC and a 46g gas tank) was the leather seats, that I didn't want.
Been kept in my garage and I've only got about 7,800m on her.

I would get a SR5 grill with the black center before I paid that much for a pro grill. I like and want a pro grill but that's just stupid money.

Yeah we made money of off my wife's 14 fj. Bought it for 29 and sold it for 32 3yrs later. That thing sold in less than 24hrs full asking price, blue book was close to 36. Wife really misses it but it was not a truck for 2 kids in a car seat 1 was already hard enough specially in parking lots.

That's crazy. I loved my FJ, but like you, not family friendly. I'd never pay that much for a used one though haha. I bought my 2010 green brand new for 26.9K and sold it 4 years later for 23K.

FJ resale is wild! I just sold mine for 11k to a dealer with 150k miles. Had it almost 10 years... purchased it in 2008 when gas prices were outrageous for 19k. I didn't sell it for more than I paid for it, but I can't believe how much I got 10 years later. I probably could have fetched 14k private sale.

Its an amazing vehicle - just stopped being so amazing when we had our first kid 8 months ago. Took putting the car seat in it once to be over it.

Yea we waited till our little guy was about 5 when we got ours. He still loves crawling in the back and still fits! :) He wanted moms FJ till I got my Tundra

I sure wish that they would have come out with the full size four door version. Toyota completely missed the boat. There are literally millions of 4 door jeeps out there. Biggest mistake (along with not having a diesel Tundra or Tacoma) that they have ever made.

I think that we will keep the FJ for at least 30 years and see what we want to do with it then. Ive had my 1994 Land Cruiser since new and still have it with no desire to get rid of it so Im sure that we will still have the FJ.
