Gave my new Tundra a wash this morning and was taken back at how easy the center caps came off on the PRO. My 2012 had a removable center cap but had to use a tool to pop it out. Has anyone commented on this earlier (couldn't find anything)? Considering using some kind of adhesive to lock them down. Removal of the center cap isn't needed to move the wheel. Thoughts?

I haven't seen any come through with missing center caps. That's not to say they couldn't come off, but I haven't seen any TRD wheels missing center caps.

As a technician, not really a fan of screw on center caps in allow wheels. They tend to strip out. That's besides being annoying to rotate...

The unfortunate thing about that is they tend to look good, but can be annoying to work on.

Speaking of, do you have pictures?

Lol. Funny you mention this. The day I picked up my PRO from the dealership, I drove straight home. That night my wife came inside and pointed out that the front center cap was missing. Looked at a few pictures I took while still at the dealership and it was on there. Fell off in the first 8 miles of driving. Dealership did the right thing and ordered me a new one.

Sounds like a poor PDI, so its their fault. Glad they fixed it with no issues!

I've lost one off road and got a replacement. If it reoccures I may consider it a problem.

Same shit happened with my new truck. I lost both center caps on the passenger side within a few miles of driving. The GMC dealership didn't even question it. They went out and pulled me off two more off a truck on the lot and put them on my truck. The sales manager said the same thing about the PDI and would be charging the maintenance department the 138.00 for them.

Do those caps fit on the TRD wheels? They almost look like they will.

Thanks for the input. It's ridiculous how I was able to just yank them off with my hand. Matter of time before kids figure this out and start pulling them off.

Those look much better than the allen bolted center caps I'm used to seeing. It's hard to describe the way they mate to the wheels but it's usually pretty tacky.

Not all center caps require the wheel to be removed or a tool to be used in order to remove them. A lot of the new Tundra center caps can be pulled off by hand, not just the PRO. Not that it's any consolation, but that's how they are now. We honestly don't have many problems with them falling off if they are properly installed.

The stock TRD wheel caps (not the Pro caps) are exactly the same. I believe they are actually the same cap, just with a different centerpiece.
