    Hey everybody,

My name is Diego, my wife and I are considering moving out of state to AZ. (Getting tired of LA) Either Glendale, Surprise and I am thinking maybe even Prescott. Any pros and cons about the area?? ill definitely need a new truck if I move to Prescott as well...lol. 2 wheel drive probs....

    Thank you in advance!!

ha ! you are not the only one. One of my buddy moved there few years back (also from LA) and my LEO buddy leaving the Valley for Prescott later this year. I visited it 2 years ago and it's a nice town. Sedona is not too far either. Will you be working there or retiring ?

depending on the industry, work can be scarce vs L.A. is where I'm getting at.
climate imo is nicer in Prescott vs some lower elevation cities in AZ.

yeah i would look into trying to get into a PD out there. I know the pay is like half of what you make here in LA, but makes more sense overall..yeah and i hear you get all four seasons

It was not too expensive, my wife likes how the houses look, and for me personally it wasn't too far from LA where my family resides...Oh and spring training is there every year for the Dodgers....LOL just kidding a little bit

ah, gotcha! That's the west valley of the Phoenix Metro area. I'm in Gilbert (east valley). I can't speak to Glendale/Surprise but regarding the valley of the sun in general.... some Pros - plenty of restaurants, resorts, hiking, biking, boating, local events, lots of spring training games valley-wide, lots of offroad trails nearby or drive a couple hours north for forest camping/offroading/fishing. Cons - blazing hot 4 months out of the year (thats what pools and vacations are for!). Can't think of any other cons at the moment. I love me some AZ!

Diego - We're in SE AZ (Sierra Vista) but have daughter in PHX and son in Flagstaff. bdean has already hit on the PHX HEAT. (We don't go there mid-May until late Sep.) Prescott gets snow, but not that bad. Flag gets a LOT of snow/ice. Being centrally located in the PHX area allows you to go in all directions. There's a LOT to see and do in AZ. Good luck!

I live out here in Glendale and can attest to what everyone here has replied. PD out here hiring like crazy so you should have no problem finding options. Prescott will severely limit your job options but it does stay about 10-15 degrees cooler in the summer months. Tons of new construction in surprise as well. Good luck in your search

Another Glendalien here. I'd definitely choose Prescott over living in what we call "The Valley" (aka the entire Phoenix metro area). Simply due to the weather.
