I have a 2018 Platinum CM and the sensor behind the Toyota emblem stops working when it gets covered by snow/slush (which seems like a magnet for the slush.) Then the PCS OFF light comes on until I stop and clear it off.
I recently got hit by a chunk of asphalt and damaged the grill so I need to replace it.
Anyone with the TRD PRO grill and the PCS sensor have this problem too. If it’s less prone to snow/slush collection, I’m going to switch to that grill.
    TIA!

If anything covers the sensor it'll stop working. It needs to be clear of debris, or it can't shoot out the laser beams.
There's no harm in driving it, just be aware you can't use adaptive cruise and your pre-collision won't work until its clear again.

Similar to how the clearance sensors will get angry if they are covered.
You can't really do much to stop it from happening, when weather kicks up.

    If I'm understanding you correctly.

I’m trying to find out if the TRD PRO grill is less susceptible to the problem.

Nope, just as. I have it fitted to my trucks and the rectangle gets covered the same as the oval. Not much of a noticeable difference between these two in that's respect anyway .
