Hey guys. I have a '21 crewmax SR5 TRD/OR with about 1500 miles on it.

I've noticed that when I stop and then accelerate I can feel almost a slight 'clunk' or 'pop' in the drivers seat. It feels like it's coming from the seat but I can't really tell if its from the bottom of the seat connected to the floor or if its the back of the seat. It only moves slightly (maybe 1/8") but it is getting to be VERY annoying. I've adjusted all the positions (front/back, down/up, and lumbar) and that hasn't helped, still does it. I even tried to rock the seat back and forth and there really isn't any movement in the seat. Seems to only happen when I'm actually sitting in the seat and accelerate. I had a '20 before this one and never had this issue.

Has anyone ever experienced this issue before? I plan on taking it to the dealer soon but wanted to check with the experts (you guys) first.

I also have the same issue. It will pop, and then I try to recreate it by wiggling around and it won't do it again. It doesn't do it constantly, just once a trip or every other trip.

Sorry to hear you are having the same problem but glad to hear its not just me. If I'm really easy on the gas it doesn't do it but any other time it will do it. This shit is driving me crazy. I know it sounds minor but paying $45k for a truck I expect the damn seat to not move.

Try putting a wrench on all the mounting bolts and see if they're loose before you go to the dealer. Could be a very simple fix. If that doesn't do the trick then I'd take it to the dealer.

That was the first thing I checked and unfortunately they were all tight and secure.

Maybe its something with the tracks? Loose bolts elsewhere under the seat that hold the tracks on or something. Just spit balling here. It'd be worth a look. I'll take a look at mine later today and see if I can see anything that might cause what you're experiencing

That would be great. I'm going to really get in there again and check everything out again before I take it in to the dealer.

Yes I've experienced the same on my 2020 Tundra. Dealer said it was normal as always

Normal my ass. I've never heard of a seat actually moving while driving be considered normal lol. My '20 never did this which is why I was surprised when my '21 started doing it.

My dealer told me the same thing. "we could replace the seat, but it would just do the same thing". As mentioned, it's very annoying and disappointing for a brand new truck.

My ‘16 does it but I feel it in the lumbar area. I posted up about it when I first joined here but never got any solid answers

agreed, pretty frustrating. I sometimes feel it in the lumbar area like @GeeWhiz said, but sometimes I feel it in the seat (I think?). It might be a bolt or something connecting those two, I'm not sure.

I feel the exact same thing. Sometimes it feels like the inner-lumber support moving but then something if feels like the whole seat itself. Very frustrating for that to happen on a new $45k vehicle.

Dumb question, but I am assuming this is a power seat? I have a manual seat and havent had this issue, except when i adjust, sometimes i get it between positions and it will settle into the closest position. Never does this if i am not actively trying to adjust the seat. Anyone have the same issue as OP with a manual seat?

Yes, this is a power seat. And I know exactly what you are talking about when you are in the "in-between" position on a manual seat and then it kinda pops into place when you move or start driving. My old Taco did that all the time when I went to adjust it.

My power seat in my 21’ does the same thing. Dealer told me it was normal and I told them to show me another truck on the lot that did it. We checked the other trucks and the rest were solid. They said I could bring it back for warranty but I just haven’t had the chance to so so yet.

Mine does it as well. It feels like the pivot is loose as I can feel it most on my lower back when I am adjusting myself in the seat.

I'd make them prove that theory by replacing the seat.
Then I'd make them show me the new seat before installing it so they don't just say they put a new one in.

Just turn up the stereo, if the wheel falls off you will know, aside from that change the oil
periodically and fill the gas frequently.

Same issue with mine. 99% sure it comes from the lumber support - seems to be a horizontal movement from front/back. I just try to ignore it now.

I took mine in to the dealer and had them drive it and of course they said they couldn't feel anything. I was already running late so I didn't have time to argue with them.

That being said, I'm almost positive it has something to do with the adjustable lumbar support area. As you said, the passenger side is nice and tight, probably because that side doesn't have the adjustable power lumbar option.

I actually spent about 20 mins of constantly messing with all of the adjustable seat dials hoping that it would cause something to "settle" into place and it actually seems to do it less often now. But still does it nonetheless.

My ‘20 Limited just started to do this a few days ago. I can recreate it stand out side of the truck and lifting up on the seat base every time. I can feel it coming from the floor of the truck like is a weak spot in the sheet metal. Definitely not happy with it. Will be taking it to local dealership. I demand answers.

I went to the dealer today with my 2021 1794 to have seat frame replaced. It has gotten worse lately i figured it was the multi movement of the seat and I’m a big man and I’m not sure the next one will not do the same thing. But I see some on here have sr5 , that i don’t
think have the premium seats, it started with just a slight movement on take off but couldn’t recreated after it did it. Sounds a little like sheet metal flexing pop. It got where the lumbar would move By shaking it. Anyway the lumbar was all that came in today after back order for a moth. the bottom frame didn’t come in.
Did get new leather on passenger seat today , front strap that connects it to front of seat would not stay attached from day one.
    19k
No problems with warranty and tech said they was definitely movement in multiple points

They ordered a new drivers seat for my 21 1704 edition, back and Bottom , but while it was being shipped i got t boned and truck has been in shop since September 26, so haven’t had new seat frames installed yet. But it was covered under warranty.
