Hey guys, been a long time lurker.

I currently have a '18 Tacoma Sport. I could go into long story of why I need the bigger truck, but not sure you guys need/want to hear it, haha.

I have labored long and hard over what to buy, a Rebel or a Pro. Rebel interior is amazing and generally a nicer and more comfortable interior. But I really don't need a 12 inch computer screen in my truck. And while I love the panoramic roof, it's a luxury. Along w the extra 7-8k on the msrp and the huge reliability divide, I've settled on the Pro. I actually prefer the simplicity of the inside. Its a truck I've wanted since I was in the market several years back.

ANYWAY....my long winded question is w the 'Rona on the loose right now, should I wait a little longer for more negotiation leverage, price flexibility from the dealer etc? I mean, will they be begging me to buy at the end of April? I need all the help I can get with the price tag. Or do you think dealers already feel the need to bend a little more?
My one concern is my local dealer has the Army green I've gradually fallen in love with and I'm worried someone else will snag it. There is also a white one a bit farther from a crappier dealer that I would be ok with. But my pref in color and dealer is the one I'm scared to lose. I'm sure I can find another, but the convenience is here locally.

Thanks fellas, really enjoy this forum!

    Welcome from NY.

    Where are you from?
I would wait, the deals will get better and you really can't use it unless you need it because you are a essential worker.

I love my pro. You’ll definitely have room to negotiate since sales have basically ground to a halt.

they won’t discount it like $10k but you should be able to get $2k+. Financing rates are pretty good right now too (at least through my CU)

Coming from someone that was in the same boat a week ago, i know how you feel. Personally, I think there are great deals to be had right now. There is a chance they will get better, but there are plenty of dealerships desperate to sell trucks right now.
That being said, you have to do your due diligence to find the dealership that is willing to make your deal. Unfortunately it may not be the most convenient location. For me, I had to travel about 4 hours to pick up my truck. Left Friday at 5pm and got back Saturday morning around 2am.

Don't listen to that "We don't make deals on TRD PRO's" crap right now. There are plenty of dealerships knocking 2-3 grand off MSRP. Happy Hunting.

You will definitely love the Pro. I traded in a 2018 TRDORDC Taco for a Pro last May and the difference is night and day. Much more interior space and MUCH more power/torque. I tried to love the Taco, because it was a beautiful truck, but I just didn’t enjoy driving it. It had virtually no low end torque. I had the OV tune on it and it helped, but it could not overcome the limitations of that crappy V-6. The longer this pandemic goes on, the more desperate dealerships will be to make a sale. I was at my dealership Saturday and the salesman I bought my Pro from told me he hadn’t sold a vehicle in 3 weeks, and this is a high volume dealer. Good luck and welcome to the club.

You should wait. Unless there is a specific color you want and can find a deal now.

Thank you guys, I appreciate the feedback and the welcome. Part of me wants to run out and just grab it, but it's reach for me to afford this right now (i can, it's just not the exactly a prime time to do it!) so if I can get a better deal on it I should. And realize the situation can favor me. But you guys are right, it's something I can sit on and watch.

And I need to locate other army green somewhere in the area, just so I know there is a fall back. I'm ok with traveling to go get it.

Haha, I definitely love the white. I think the Pro looks so damn good in it. But I don't think I can pull it off. I think Cement is the best color hands down, but I absolutely love the army green. I know its an acquired taste, but I think its badass and a little different.

This is the best forum I've found, ty. Seems to be a good group.

Yeah if I can't find any other army green, I may not have as much wiggle room.

Tried to work a deal on a 4Runner pro this last week wouldn’t go less then 2000 over invoice. Which isn’t much off at all. And it’s been on the lot for 2 months. Every dealer is different. But I think things will get better for the buyer here soon. If they do a .9 interest rate or lower I won’t mind paying a little more for the vehicle. Im waiting for the interest rate to drop more. It’s 3.9 for 72 and 2.9 for 60 through Toyota I see other. Brands close to 0. Just a matter of time.

Welcome from Ontario Canada, since it’s the dealer you prefer and the truck you prefer I’d go for it sooner rather than later . I don’t think the deals are going to get “ that “ much better .

Id go in and shop it now...if the dealer is willing to drop price on it u should pull the trigger. if not u can always find it later...they never offer incentives on PROs anyway. and it seems like these things arent limited anymore i see so many in my town its nuts!

I would wait. Everyone thinks this will blow over but times are going to get a lot harder before they get better. If you get a killer deal go for it, but my .02 cents are I would rather have money in the bank and ride this out maybe pay a little more but at least have a cushion. Again this may not apply but just throwing it out there. Stay safe.

Ditto. Wife's car lease is up in a few months; was debating about taking advantage of any deal now vs preserving cash. I opted for the latter to see where this settles.

Than you guys, again, this is a great forum...good support here.

Yeah, I have a call from my dealer saying they have numbers for me....I need to get a good interest rate, i can't have my monthly payments go up too much. But if the deal is there, I'll take it. But as badly as I want the pro, its not a must right now.

TIRES!!!! If the Toyota truck you are looking to buy has Bridgestone Dueler H/T tires on it make them change them out. I purchased a new 2019 Tundra and the Dueler tires bald at 26,000 miles. Loads of complaints online and I am preparing documentation to file a complaint with the AT of WV, BBB, and FTC. Love Toyota trucks, and this is the very first issue I have ever had. It was Bridgestone that would not honor warranty on subpar tires...

I have a 2020 super white pro. Love it, they gave me a $1000 off of mine, ordered it in August last year- but I would of paid up for it anyway. I have wanted one for a long long time. Worth every penny, couldn’t be happier.

Has anyone else had that problem w the tires?? Nvr heard of that before now. I actually made them do it w my tacoma, i told them I just couldn't buy a truck w tires that look like that. They were awful.

They came at me w @1500 less than I wanted for my taco and came down a little over 1000 on the msrp. Damn. I told them no can't do it. A better offer will come tmrw, but if they can't get it at least 1k more for the trade and 500 to 1000 more on msrp, I will look elsewhere. Or I am being too picky.

I read this morning that the Toyota plants are closed. I'm not sure how many more there going to make. $1000 off MSRP is a good offer on a pro. You said another $500 off and you'd be happy. Tell them that and I bet they'd make the deal. I got mine for $1750 off MSRP. I love the army green! I get a lot of compliments on it! And like I said, the plants are closed. Who knows when they'll open again. If it was me, I'd get it before it's gone. Like toilet paper! Lol good luck with your decision. I hope you get exactly what you want.

    Thanks 7dgoat, appreciate it!

I picked her up today...ear to ear grin every time i hear the rumble. Its better than i thought actually.

I ended up having to go an hour away, but i got the deal i was looking for. Only thing i need is spray in liner asap. Black lettering for trd pro and some interior changes, backseat storage. At least, thats all i can afford right now, ha.

I think you've got time to sit on it for a bit. Even if the Corona virus disappeared tomorrow and we came roaring back the recovery will be slow. People aren't going to come swinging out of the gate for new vehicles..they'll be looking for new jobs. All the large dealerships in my area have all submitted their WARN notifications. There's deals to be had you just need to get in touch with the right manager, walk right passed the salesman
