Could be your skid plate rubbing against the frame when it flexes when you turn the wheel.

Try removing your skid plate and check if it will still make the popping sound without the skid plate.

I had this same sound. They tightened up on the lower control arms and the pop when away.

Similar issue here - need more info like did you make any changes? A couple things to try. Mine was the skid plate was rubbing on tires - sounded really bad. Yours might be your LCA cam bushings.

    Check clearance on skid plate
Check/grease wheel stops (this would only be an issue at full wheel lock)
Check LCA cam bolts for tightness

    Changes from stock?
kings, tc UCAs, Coachbuilder shock shims & tie rod ends, 35’s, 18 wheels, BMC.

I don’t think anything’s hitting the skid (stock sport skid). I definitely need to check the LCA bolts. Sounds like it’s coming from the CV or perhaps the tie rod end. Maybe need to degrease the tie rod end if I haven’t screwed it up already. @Coachbuilder1 thoughts?

When mine made similar sounds it was because the Toyota dealer didn’t tighten my right LCA bolt peppery after an alignment.

Remove your skid plate and watch the steering rack. If it’s shifting significantly, it’s probably the rack bushings. I had the same issue and noise, my bushings were shot, warped and fatigued. I replaced them with energy suspension’s rack bushing kit and it fixed it.

The sway bar almost looks like it moves and pops? I’ve got Kings and spc uca with a coach builder. I had some weird noises from the sway bar bushings. Pull the sway bar and see if it helps. Plus you’ll allow those Kings to fully engage and cycle.

What did you end up doing with the skid plate rub? I've seen people cut their skid plate a few inches to make the clearance.

For a temp fix I bent the little “wing” up to make clearance - but ultimately installed an RCI skid plate since I was already sick and tired of removing the OEM skid plate for oil changes. This gave me enough reason to upgrade the skid plate and glad I did.

Nice. So, the RCI skit was narrow enough to miss the tires? That was my next step, look at third party skid plates to solve that hitting problem.

Yep! Fits great - a lot of folks on here have upgraded. It’s solid and well made, great product.
