Poly leaf spring bushing kit

    MetalTech 4x4 has a poly bushing kit from Ironman4x4 that includes all 4 leaf spring eyelets AND the upper shackle bolt bushing. The only part you need to reuse is the metal sleeve from the original upper bushing, and you will need to order some type of grease for it, I ordered a small tub of the Energy Suspension grease off Amazon. I just placed a order for a set and plan on installing it soon so I’ll report back with how the install went and how it rides.

    Spendy! I've been shopping for bushings lately and saw those but I'm cheap. Maybe some of the bushings I've been looking at don't include the shackle bushings too?

    I honestly think that’s cheap for 6 sets of bushings! I paid $50 for just the rear spring eyelet when I installed my coachbuilder shackles.

    I can’t find any leaf spring bushings on the @TOTAL CHAOS website or the MCM website...

    Bushings are an option if you buy Deavers from Matt so I figured he's gotta have 'em. Price difference is $40-50, doesn't mean I could actually buy 'em from him for that, I was just assuming. I guess I could call Deaver too and see what they say.

    Haven’t gotten around to doing it yet, I will say when I originally installed my coachbuilder shackles and bushings it was a huge upgrade so I have high hopes for this set.

    3" level kit
    What did you use for the front leaf bushing at the frame? I got the Ironman shackles and have the bushings set up for the upper lower shackle but there’s a lot of slip in the leaf spring front eyelet with the Ironman set. At a loss.

    I just got my kit the other day and was going to install next weekend. How much slop is there ? Have you called them or maybe snap a few pictures for us?

    Let’s just say I wasn’t impressed with the Ironman bushings… finally installed them in 2021 and they were shot within months and replaced them with some energy bushings today.

    It's good
    I have poly everywhere on the first gen. I've modded sleeves and bushings to fit my applications, used every grease from Energy #5 to SuperLube high dollar to copper anti-seize. What I've learned is that good poly is good and grease is essential if you want a quiet ride after that next 5 day run. And you want to be able to re-grease without pulling your suspension apart. And, you have to learn where you want the grease to go and where poly is supposed to slide and where it is supposed to hold. I use a combination of zerk pins, zerked eyelets and modded sleeves to put the grease where it should be without a teardown. I guess my point is poly is the way to go for some, but it also adds to your maintenance schedule, in my experience.

    I realized I didn't explain the most important part. Where you want the grease (movement). Light grease anywhere is fine, but these red areas are where you want greased movement. Between the inner sleeve and the inner bushing, and on the outside of the bushing flange. Thats where poly is supposed to move. Remember that when you tighten down your bolts, that inner sleeve becomes part of the frame or shackle - it's not a bearing, the poly moves around it.

    And those grooves you see in the pic are not grease channels. The poly bushings are not meant to rotate in the leaf eyes.
