Hi guys, just bought this truck with 94,000 miles. I asked the original owner if he had changed the timing belt and said no.

I’m going to have my mechanic look it over and was going to have him replace the timing belt/water pump, maybe the belts and any other things he notices that I can’t do myself.

i see on Amazon they’ve got tons of options ranging from $150-$250.

Any you guys would recommend? Or brands to stick with or avoid?

That particular one says it’s from the AISIN store, could it be a fake?

Yes, I agree with this. Found out when my water pump went out in 3 years on my last Tundra.
Suppose to have been aisin off of ebay. Later could look close and tell a difference. From one at the dealer.
Really these parts are to important to take a chance.

I wouldn’t risk finding out. It’s the same price everywhere else from a Certified aisin dealer.

YES. It absolutely could be fake. This post explains how/why. Amazoan's concept of a "store" is not what anyone actually thinks it is. It's intended to be confusing on purpose.

Never buy critical auto parts on Amazoan or Fleabay. They make zero efforts to protect you, the consumer, from fraud and fakes. They make money off sales, regardless who or what is being sold, and are very-well-protected from being held liable if something they sell you ends up being counterfeit. Try suing them sometime and see what happens.

They're well aware of this and will never make HONEST efforts to fix their counterfeit problem, which would be very freaking easy, like with Amazoan, they just need to put someone in charge of scanning all incoming merchandise shipments to the warehouse to look for fakes and/or non-US-market products as they arrive BEFORE they put those shipment items into the shared inventory bins for sellers to fulfill from. They're making billions, hand over foot, and can 1,000% afford to have such oversight but they don't because profit is everything to them, this is their culture and mentality.

Stick with a seller who fulfills their items directly from the manufacturer's own warehouses or licensed depots, like Summit Racing, Rock Auto, or similar. Don't use Amazoan or Fleabay, which either use shared warehousing facilities or is no different from using a flea market. There's a reason the latter got the nickname "Fleabay"....

I ordered some Bosch Oxygen Sensors from Amazon. They were taking forever to show up.
I ordered again from a Amazon, different supplier. Both showed up the same day.
Side-by-side comparison showed one was a counterfeit. the fake was from mainland China.
I showed Amazon my findings. That seller was gone in 3 days.

Dealer prices where I'm at are almost triple for the timing belt stuff. Tensioner and idler pulley each are about the same cost as the whole Aisin kit.

Yeah, but the problem is, I guarantee that seller re-opened via a new storefront within the hour. I'd also assure you that same seller has no less than 2-3 other storefronts ready to go, so they really lost no downtime. The entire Amazoan marketplace is rigged. For every 1 legit seller there are 20 of these fly-by-night counterfeit sellers, and for those legitimate sellers unfortunate enough to use Amazoan's warehouses, where inventory deliveries can go into shared stock bins, they're screwed. Fact is, the seller who got axed could've been a legit seller who had the misfortune of sharing a stock bin with a fraudulent storefront who shipped in a boatload of counterfeits.

This would be my biggest concern, price, I don't know that Toyota sells this kit, and buying individually would be murder on the wallet.

So is Summit Racing for sure. But this is the kit you want to buy, the '021' kit, not the '001' kit which lacks one or two parts:

    https://www.summitracing.com/parts/asn-tkt-021

(Even if Summit is slightly higher, their returns, shipping, etc. are often simple/free, and they also do price matching so you could potentially get it cheaper if you're willing to wait)
