    It looks good.
Did you plastidip your grill surround or how did you color match it?

Okay, I kinda assumed but figured I'd ask. Trying to get this look going for my truck with the color matched grill surround but black bumper. Think it just makes the blue pop!

It is nice to see another Cavalry Blue with all black bumper corners, great job!

However, you could say that I am partial to or biased... ;)

That looks really good! What kind of prep work did you do to get it to adhere to the chrome?

Looks great. Is there a specific black you used? Did you remove bumpers for painting? Did you need to use and primer or glossifier? How many cans did you use. Thanks.

Just don’t forget and use bug and tar remover on the front. Ask me how I know :)
I don’t usually even use the stuff but I had an old van lying around and an unusually huge amount of orange butterfly’s on the bumper. As soon as I finished spraying it on it occurred to me and as fast as I could get it off it still messed it up.

Just used dish soap, the some rubbing alcohol with a micro fiber cloth. I made sure to do it inside my garage like all the videos I watched.
I waited 10 minutes between coats also and did 5 on both front and back. Just used the default black you can pickup at HD.

    They look great!

I will say though, eventually it will start to “sparkle”’from the chrome underneath.

I ended up doing bumpershellz on mine after I had plasti dipped them to determine if I liked the look.

The overall appearance is the same, however it does not need to be maintained.

Just offering up some ideas to anyone on the fence about a more permanent solution.

no intention to hijack, but your "dumped" exhaust w/ chrome tip looks great!

    any drone?

also, wtf did you do w/ your antenna? rockin' it jeep style out of the side... dig it!

Negative! I run a stock exhaust (drive a loud truck all day for work and the tundra is our family commuter vehicle) so stock and quiet is ok for me.

I dumped it and added a tip, which I had to trim down about 3.5” to fit nicely.

    CD5FEE1C-D359-4A65-B5F9-C8757704FE43.jpg

2.75 Inch Inlet Exhaust Tip, AUTOSAVER88 Chrome Polished Stainless Steel Exhaust Tailpipe Tip, 2.75" x 3.5" x 12" Clamp On Design. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0798FMZV3/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apip_S5ruljEsarB7A

this is the tip I used. Simply measured 3.5” up and followed the curve/angle of it to achieve the look I wanted.

As for the antenna.. I’m not sure what you are referring too. It is in the stock location, just a shorter antenna.

    thanks for all of that.

regarding your antenna, i see that your just running a shorty.

your pickup is so shiny that the sky and tree reflections made it look like the antenna was coming out of the side, and then a 90* turn up (similar to the wranglers)

I’m doing this over the weekend. Bumpershellz and the oem parts are a little salty imo. Plasti dip looks bad after awhile, peel it off and do it again. Looks very good OP. I’ve had good luck with plasti dip. Just humidity sensitive with my experience

Happy with it? This project is on my radar. Like does it look Good up close? There’s a new plasti dip in black now and it’s called hyper dip or something. More black over time and looks like more glossy without the glossifer which I never had any luck with.

I am happy with it. Its a cheap, easy, really good looking way to dechrome the vehicle. The sheen is really really close to the center piece of the front bumper. In all fairness and my honest opinion, it looks good. Could it better? Yes, but it was after quite a few beers late into a Friday night after work. And really the spray goes on very evenly. Most of the issues came about from not being patient when pulling up the tape. Would i do it again, definitely! When the rain lets up in a few days, I'll try and snap a close up of the surface for you.

I think I'll try my again this weekend. I did it a while back but got frustrated after it peeled up on a corner so I took it off in anger. I didn't run them down with alcohol first and didn't get enough wrap around coverage on edges.

I did my Grille/Surround in Rustoleum bediner last week, but I want the ends done now too.

If they were easy to remove, I'd have them powder coated. But they don't seem the easiest to remove, especially the front

Yes, you've gotta be patient with it. I seriously didn't realize alcohol was in high demand since the pandemic, so i just used mineral spirits. It seems to be holding ok. The edges do require special attention, especially spraying black stuff late at night after a few beers.

Are there any video you referenced that you specifically found very helpful?
It looks easy enough; I'm about to try it out for the first time on the extra set of Sequoia 20's I just bought off craigslist.
My bumpers are both dented or I'd probably try it on them too.
