We only got 1 fob with our truck... and swap regularly. I had a profile set up with my Android when I picked up the truck, and when I got home, I created a profile for my wife, with her iphone. I'm listed as primary, and her profile is listed on the truck, when we swap drivers... it asks us for a pin? Why? We do this regularly in our Audi, with no issue (granted, we have our own fobs, but still) and it swaps and adjust seats/mirrors/etc. for each driver on each fob. patiently waiting for 2nd fob...

One other thing, the keyless entry system doesn't work on the rear doors? someone missed this one! I often load items into the rear door, before I open my front. I suppose I can go fish for my key fob, but really? Another item we have on the Audi.

and don't get me wrong, love the truck so far, just a few things I've run into that caught me off guard/surprised me. It's wicked fast/powerful, love the smooth transitions from battery to v6 and back, almost completely unnoticeable. (rather cool seeing tach go to 0 rpm's at 45 mph or even faster! )

Most smart handles on non luxury vehicles are only on the front handles. This is the norm, not the exception, so nothing was missed. You can set it up to unlock all doors, though. Then you just grab the front handle to unlock, then open the back door. Hardly an issue.

You can't compare a luxury Audi car to a working truck.

Yes, I set that up yesterday. So, I'll try using that going forward. I don't buy vehicles very often (my last tundra was almost 12 yrs ago, the Tundra before that, another 11, the Audi(S5 sportback) 4 years ago) and typically keep them for at least 10 years. So, I haven't noticed that non-luxurys are like that, thanks for the info!

Any idea on how to fix the PIN requests?

Sure thing. I only know about it because I'm dumb and have had a couple vehicles in the last half decade with the feature. :anonymous:

As for the PIN thing, I don't know. I have seen others having issues with it on the 3rd gens, but my Tundra was a 2019 and didn't have any of those features. If I see one of the threads about it I'll try to get a link in here for it.

I ran thru those. and I think it might be, because my wife is trying to use the truck, and my phone is tied to the fob as primary driver, and then, when she uses the fob, it thinks it's an unauthorized user - and prompts her for her pin. And, then, when I came back into the truck, with my phone, and she had moved to the passenger seat - her iphone is set up with her profile... and I select my user for the seat/settings... I had to put in my pin... and then go to devices, and enable my phone. As hers was still in use, and I wanted to use mine(android) for my maps/setups. ;) So, I think Toyota needs to rethink the only 1 key fob ... I think this is the source of our issues. My dealer said I should get the second fob in a month or so.... oye.

Right now, Toyota ... is giving 1 key fob with the sale of a vehicle it seems, as of a couple weeks ago. They are mailing the 2nd fob later (my dealer said in a month ?) I haven't got mine yet, I picked my truck up Nov 25.

I wish the rear doors had smart entry, had to set down 2 bags of groceries in the wet snow while carrying my 2 year old today, almost daily occurrence that something like that happens and have to fiddle fart with touching the front door first, mildly annoying

If you have a free hand to grab a rear handle how is it requiring you to set anything down to grab the front first, and then the rear?

    Honest question. I don't understand.

it’s more of the frustration of full hands and being able to do it, realizing (everytime) that the back door doesn’t work, wiggling toddler and then in your flustered state needing to set stuff down to open the other door to contain your child whose doing the worm because they see their toy airplane or skid steer in the backseat

Well, they don't have proximity lock... but they do know you're there... you walk up - and the interior lights up at night....and, I think I hear the fuel pump(or something ) spin up too, so ... it'd be easy enough to make that an unlock since it's just another on with the lights... ;)
