With current events I thought it might be good to share something that can help put things in perspective. You can ignore the media talking head (love him or hate him he is irrelevant to the issue), but you should watch and see what a doctor in the thick of this mess says.

    https://www.foxnews.com/media/doctor-david-price-coronavirus

I posted this in response to fears in another thread, but I hope it might do a bit more good if it were the main topic of a thread instead of a glossed over response.

For the record, the "Tacogrande" choice was not put in the poll by me. Somebody must have added it after.

I think Watters is a condescending prick in general and the Dr is sincere I think but I am not convinced that it is that simple.
I also am suffering Allergies as I do every year at this time and it is not a simple matter to stop touching my face but I am trying.

I think I might need the Cone of Shame on my Wrists?

As long as I stay holed up and there is no new way to get the thing inside here I might be OK but I am not convinced again that there are not more ways to transmit than are talked about in these simple terms?

So yes it would be comforting if I had faith in the knowledge that we have up to now,but I don't.

I can totally understand where you are coming from, and I appreciate the honest response. I hope those allergies let up. Mine are mild and it's a pain.
Even though I do believe the doctor, that isn't stopping me from being a hermit. I'm not going anywhere or visiting anyone. I do drive from time to time to get out of the house, but I don't actually go anywhere.

Not going anywhere is one of my favorite places!

I would be fine driving to my shop and holing up too as no one else has been in there but me for a few weeks and I can get some shit done......on the Tundra for example!
But every time I go there some idiot sees me there and wants to talk or something and I am tired of being the only person that I know who is taking this seriously there?

So it is just easier to stay home.

I admit that after going to the Grocery yesterday it felt so good to get out that I did drive around a while for no reason other than that!

The problem is that Time takes Time.

If I understand correctly, he's contradicting what the WHO, CDC and others are saying about it primarily being transmitted by airborne droplets? But the talking head is still recommending social distancing and coughing in your elbow, so I guess that's good.

I haven't read up on what the WHO and CDC say about it's spread, just the guidelines of distance and isolating as much as possible, and I am doing all that.

To me, the doctor working the cases would be akin to the boots on the ground worker in a company while the CDC and such are more like the corporate office. Corporate has all the say, but the don't have the direct field experience that the workers do. Take it however you would like, but the ones in the field usually have a better grasp than the ones back home in the offices. Just my opinion of course.

I don’t see the option on your poll for ‘this guy’s opinion does not reflect the scientific studies to date on how the Covid-19 virus is transmitted’.

The studies published so far in several countries indicate that transmission is by aerosol distribution (shared air in closed environments) as well as by touching surfaces that hold the virus then touching your face. So far, indications are that most transmission is by breathing air that contains the virus. That’s how the front line medical workers are getting it. So....

Obviously informative clip wether people choose to believe of not. But another category would be: This is pretty obvious. Transmission of most viruses of this type is from un-clean hands to facial orifice. But it is good to show something less alarming on the media other than the continuous Andrew Cuomo election 2024 spots most news networks run everyday. "We need 30,000 VENT-ilators. The federal government sent me 400 VENT-ilators, what am I going to do with 400 when I need 30,000 VENT-ilators".

Jackass, use the ones that you have and the 2,400 (not 400) that you were sent and the feds will send more. The president made it clear that he is not going to let you stockpile ventilators at the expense of the rest of the country. They will be distributed as needed.

I haven't yet figured out if Cuomo is just a self-serving, evil prick trying to get himself the democratic nomination in 2024, or if he is just dumb. Right now in our current climate/crisis, I will give him the benefit of the doubt and assume that he is just dumb.

Anyway, this is a good post, because copious hand washing is a significant way to stop the spread of the virus.

I wonder if all the bearded guys will start shaving all their beards off because beards hold virus and bacteria at higher levels than non-bearded faces.

All I know is that the first case in my county (I’m almost 400 miles from NYC) was community spread. The person had no travel outside their immediate town and hadn’t come into contact with any known positive cases. That tells me it’s been here a long time, a lot of people have had it, and there’s no stopping it at this point. I’ve got my own opinions on the Federal response and Cuomo, but my momma always told me, if you don’t have anything nice to say....

Just because your news source does not report on something does not mean it is not true. Everyone should spend some time on the links i posted and you would change your tune...that is if you care at all about what is going on in the world.. Ill leave it at that.

This isn't about the news source. I specifically said to ignore the talking head. Just wanted to know what people though of information coming from a doctor in the thick of it. (I'm isolating. Have been for 2 weeks, and will be continuing until saturday/sunday most likely.)

Also, I do apologize that your name is in the poll. I truly did not put it there, and I am irritated that somebody dicked with my post to put it there.

I personally will not take that doctors word for it and a lot of info i have seen says its airborne and i am taking no chances. Maybe i change my level of caution in two months..just have to wait and see. Minimum N or P100 mask with goggles is my recommendation along with proper use and decontamination. I would not feel comfortable wearing a 95 mask if i was in healthcare. I hope things get better (duh) but we are probably going to double chinas number this week. Everyone in china and South Korea wears masks...in the states almost no one.
