I am considering getting a Peddle Commander for my 2016 4.6 SR5. Does anyone have any experience with them?

No. Bought one, sold it within a month. I don't have experience with anything else but have also considered a tune down the road.

The Bluetooth version is the one that causes issues.

Just get a tune. VF/OTT whatever, don’t waste time on garbage you can just press the peddle down more with your feet.

I went back and forth and ultimately decided I could not fully trust any aftermarket module between my foot and pedal. I use the factory tow/haul button if I need better throttle response.

The Banks has a failsafe, the PC does not.

I know but even then it’s an aftermarket failsafe. Don’t get me wrong I love mods but mods with the pedal are too risky for me.

I’ve had Bluetooth pedal commander for a few years now and have had zero problems. Although, I’m considering getting a tune, then I’ll just sell my pedal commander

Get a tune and pedal commander

the tune optimizes some things in the ecu. Then the pedal commander allows you to change th main attitude of the truck at will. On the fly. I’ve sold hundreds of them with zero issues.

Pedal commander (pc-27) Bluetooth version put my truck in limp mode on the highway twice. Second time almost caused an accident. Many will say they never had a problem but it’s a known risk due to the voltage back feed from what I have researched. I don’t think it’s worth the risk honestly.

I have been running the banks pedal monster for a couple years and never had an issue.

Oh my, no! The ECU's logic made the truck drive like crap. Because I usually drive pretty leisurely I'd have to press the pedal down like 3/4 of the way to get 1/4 of the engine. Felt like it had a little 4 cyl. If I needed to move in a hurry, I'd have to go WOT... in which case the tires would spin, the stability and traction control would kick in, and the truck would stop... right in the path of the thing I was trying to get out of the way of! Very dangerous and completely unacceptable.

I bought a used HikeIt for $80 or something, and it's worked great for years.

Pedal Commander Bluetooth since 2018 zero issues. Put one in the 2019 Highlander in 2019 (holy crap what a mushy stock pedal) zero issues. Put one in the new-to-me 2015 Sequoia one year ago and no issues.

Knowing what I know now get anything except a Pedal Commander IMO. The Pedal Monster is worth a look if you are concerned about safety but it doesn't have an ECO/4x4 mode if you care about this feature. Just about ever other throttle controller has more useful features than the Pedal Commander.

Outside of some select cases, the bluetooth feature on the Pedal Command is the most useless feature on a throttle controller. I never found myself needing to hide the PC where I couldn't change settings on the face, nor did I need to change settings all that often once I settled in a mode. Other brands offer most useful features such as a valet mode or a lock out mode.

If I do anything, it will be a tune. I've looked at PCs and I just don't see them doing anything I can't already do. Just my .02.

My vote is for the OTT because that comes with a free sticker and patch :D

I was on the fence about getting a PC or PM and decided on the OTT. A bit pricier but IMO well worth it.

If you are happy with how your throttle behaves, then ok. I was very much not happy with mine (post #20). You don't have to spend a lot for a throttle controller, and it's a 5 minute install.

If there was a cheap way to have Tow-Haul become the default, I'd rather have that, but...

Yep, I'm good with it. I've had fast cars and very fast motorcycles and speed no longer really fascinates me. I still enjoy it from time to time (actually got a ticket for dragracing. ) but no, throttle response is good enough for me.

Mine isn’t about speed or feeling the need to race……it’s simply that there was a lag in response. Being in Md/DC/Va traffic daily for the last 20+ years and commuting 40 miles each way, there were times when the truck juts didn’t respond as quickly as I would have liked. Same was the issue for my 2014 4Runner. I put a sprint booster on the 4Runner and it worked great until that got totaled. Put a PC on my tundra after about a year of ownership and started putting the truck into limp mode as explained above. Got the pedal monster and no issues. Not sure, honestly, what a tune would offer as I am not familiar with that process. But I have no complaints with my banks unit
