For your payload problem, maybe add a fuel transfer tank to your trailer rear with an inline electric fuel pump. Keep the truck tank empty and you save a couple hundred pounds of payload. Just a thought!

    You high man! :rasta:
I would think DOT would have something to say about that.

Throw on a cargo rack with some jerry cans then. If that makes you feel better. Same thing. Personally, I have had multiple DOT, state, and city officers all look the other way or agree with my reasoning multiple times. Plus after viewing my record, I have had several flat out say "you will never change so I am not wasting the ink again". Quite often you can find that they are people too. At times I think it was my boldness that they actually admired, not sure. Other times there were more urgent calls and I was free to go based on luck. Regardless, don't hate on them too much! Most are pretty reasonable if they are given respect.

You don't have any problem reconciling that behavior with your stated belief in an earlier thread? Your local law enforcement are being too reasonable; maybe they should stop wasting ink, arrest you and give you a night in jail to clarify your thinking.

Don't worry, I'm not losing any sleep on this hypothetical scenario.
Not hating on DOT at all, just saying they might have an issue with a fuel line running from a trailer to a vehicle.

Sounds like having a record is complete disregard for laws, safety regulations and safety of others. :notsure:

I never stated that I am perfect. I only shared my current opinion, people do change. My current opinion has little in common with my past actions. Lessons have been learned and some are valued with great appreciation.

I never said make a connection, you can use a hose to add a few gallons as needed that is common sense.

Safety of others is exactly the reason to get the payload within limits. Think about it.

Like I said before I expect people to have a little common sense. I didn’t say splice your fuel line add some valves, create a by pass or fuel pump disable switch, etc. Pretty easy to figure out! Guess you missed the words transfer tank.

Hey, this isn't my idea. That's the only way to run your truck down the road with an EMPTY tank, like you said. People plumb in transfer tanks all the time in the bed of trucks, that's where I thought you were going with your trailer scenario.

Yep, an idea. Exactly, I said just a thought. Meaning, a starting point! Sorry if you were misled, I can only offer ideas, not claim they are perfect solutions. They do however inspire brainstorming to help others. To me that is a good thing.
