EDIT: Turns out I dont have DRLs; my mistake calling Park Light in H/L housing a DRL. But read on if you're curious about those tiny 'Park Lights' inside the AC/RC H/L housings...

I see my DRLs [now that I know theyre there] as nearly useless given how dim and small they are.
Since I wont disable them, Im considering replacing the bulbs with something of better light output; maybe LED. IDK. At least something that fits the basis of their name: DRLs.

Someone must have tried this by now, with maybe better results than the stock, weak-tiny incandescents.
    Anyone?

By DRL are you mistakenly referring to the parking light? DRL is the headlight, but my dude, it sounds like you're talking about the parking light?

Someone else made a similar mistake recently but I opted not to call them out. Bud may need some nipping in, here.

I been running LEDs in my running lights/parking lights (I call em both interchangeably) for years.

@shifty` ...'someone', thats probly me. Thanks for clarifying.
Few days ago I posted [what have you done...] that I RTOM about DRLs:
"Daytime running light system (on some models) The headlights turn on at reduced intensity when the parking brake is released with the engine started, even with the light switch in the “OFFº position. They will not go off until the ignition switch is turned off."

    Update:
    1: Apologies...I must'a been trippin'....No H/Ls AND no tiny 'Park/Run/Useless' light either.
So, kinda glad I dont have DRLs, but at same time, still curious if repacing that 'Parking' incandescent w/ an LED is worth trouble?

1A: Would they be anymore noticeable during D/L?

2: Separately, since I have no DRLs and only Halogen H/Ls, will running LED s in OEM 'fog housings' create electrical issues [provided all else electrical is stable] ?

Presuming youve had no probs w/LED parking lights: any brighter than regular incandescent bulbs?

Heard of anyone using the 'HIR' type some use as Reverse lights

Pics above are my truck, with amber Sylvania ZEVO lifetime LED bulbs.

They seem less glowy to me, but brighter, it's weird. I can't really notice much difference. But no problems with them, and I've been running them for a while.

EDIT: Looks like I've been running them since January 2024: https://www.tundras.com/threads/wha...-gen-tundra-today.2558/page-1800#post-3442809

I run a dual white/amber LED in my parking light. I emulate DRL by always having my parking light, and the blinker flashes amber. I use a 3157 bulb base LED like the one below. They're bright AF!. You'll need to update the flasher module to prevent "hyperflash". May as well convert the rears too. I have no opinion on running LEDs and incandescent on the same circuit other than why would you?

thx @w666 ..my turn signals are all Incans.
My Reverse are LED Zevos; big noticeable improvement, but didnt know of the HIR type before installing Zevos- may buy HIRs as spares for when Zevos die..

Since theyre easy to RnR [and not considered req'd safety], Id run LED on the Park light in 'housing tunnel' only if actually brighter white, better output and extended lifespan [providi g they dont f-k w/Incan signals].
As for Turn signals, Im too lazy and cheap to RnR when they work well enuf for now, altho I see the benefit of likely never needing replacement.
