    - sons truck didn't start a few colder mornings
    - figured bad battery since the truck is a 2010 so bought a new one
    - next day cold again, dead battery
    - checked for a draw on the battery when off and was 5 amps....holy pie
    - started pulling fuses....trailer plug
    - makes perfect sense...he was rear ended about a month ago
    - checked the outlet and 2/3 bare wires going into the outlet
    - no garage and below freezing sucks, so just pulled the fuse for now also installed a battery disconnect switch
    - 2 questions - do you think the wires are just shorting together And a simple liquid tape job fix?
Also , even with that fuse pulled , still pulling .78 amps, maybe something else is going on as well?
I never mentioned that his truck isn't a tundra, hope that doesn't matter.
When he was rear ended we checked his plug in by hooking it up to my boat, things worked fine. He has had his bumper replaced since then, maybe they moved it a bit to make wires touch?

I would pull fuses one at a time and check current draw until isolated. There should be milli amp draw wih key off at most for clocks, radio memory etcl.

    Good Luck!

Check the wires for any breaks and seal up and or repair each one individually. Make sure none of the pins are hitting each other.

    See fine print
there must be a short on that harness since the amp draw went down that dramatically. You still have some draw though. Does it have an aftermarket alarm/remote start? those seem to be one of the contributers. Or an aftermarket amp?

Somewhere in that rambled mess of writing I mentioned acouple bare wires.
Pretty much a blizzard here today, doubt I'll mess with it. I will continue pulling fuses, to see if that .78 apps will drop.
Milliamps on the 10amp scale should read like .050?

Correct, that would be 50 ma. Thinking that would still be very high.
