I’ll get a commuter car before I get rid of my truck. Plus my company pays for 1/2 of my gas. I waited along time to get my Tundra. So it will take me into retirement.

Texas I am seeing $2.69 at Costco pumps for the last two weeks.
And I will echo Bill, I will get another sedan/small SUV to commute before I have to pass up on the current Tundra.
Now, if I live in CA then yea, once it goes over $4 then I'm moving out, taking my Tundra with me to where gas does not cost an arm and a kidney.

I already traded off my Tundra for other reasons, back when gas here was about $2.35. When I bought it, gas was about $1.69. I am pretty sure next time I leave my house I will see every station at $3.09 or better. Not sure if that by itself would make me dump a 17 mpg vehicle, but it is getting closer. Also consider 8 quart oil changes and big tires going up in price...yeah getting expensive for a commuter vehicle. But wow...it was without question my favorite commuter vehicle ever. I am now driving a CR-V full time...33.8 MPG for every gallon pumped into the tank over 39,000 miles of driving. The only reason I think about gas prices now is because they are posted in bright neon on almost every street corner. Hard to ignore.

No price necessarily. But it’s always for sale privately and to a dealer if they have something else I want or hit my price

11 minute commute each way so I’m good. Put on snow tires because I have a hard time getting the tires up to temp. Awesome truck

Honestly, I'd have to consider another car when the cost of fuel is more than my mortgage. But I'd keep the Tundra.
I just filled up and it was 128.00! 11-13 mpg doesn't get me far but I have a short commute. Usually when it snows more or summer hits I drive a lot more filling up a couple times a week.
You could see how expensive it gets.

    $9/gallon.

    Having done the math..

Initial car cost + insurance + yearly inspection cost + maintenance

not including fuel in the cost.

taking what I spend monthly on fuel for the truck, I would be looking at about 48- 72 months before costs leveled out (based on cost of the vehicle)

So my personal decision was to stay in something I love to drive, with a banging stereo installed and enjoy my way to and from work.

160 canadian to fill my tank. I would never switch vehicles, the outrageous cost of gas does not offset all the good reasons to own a tundra. Bear in mind I make a good journeyman wage by canadian standards so it's easy for me to dismiss the cost of gas!

You guys have cheap gas. I saw $6 dollars a gallon in the eastern sierra 2 weeks ago. Around 4 here in Reno. Our property tax is dirt cheap so it offsets the expensive gas.

What in tarnation is a "gallon"??? Does no one speak Canadian here?? Jk.. It's all in Litres here so not sure what the conversion is but it's around 1.40$ a litre. I suppose that's pretty high

Never getting rid of a pickup truck in the fleet, but I own multiple. The tundra is actually on the chopping block at the moment due to other factors like rust. Currently looking at the ford maverick, but it might have to wait until next model year because of the shortages.

It is $3.49 a gallon here and my commute is 70 miles. It's not hurting too bad right now, but my gut tells me it will be $4.99 within the next year.

Last week I paid $90 to fill up from ~1/4 tank. 93 octane from Sunoco at $4/gal.

I’m really cheap, so it hurt, but the Tundra v8 is one of my favorite rides.

If Tesla can produce a $30k ish ride, I’ll get that as well to balance fuel costs a bit.

My scenario is a little different because I still have a third vehicle, a small commuter car. When my commute went from 5 miles to 30, I did the math to see whether I should be driving my Tundra or registering my car, getting a new battery and tires for it and driving it. Those calcs said the break point was about $1.30 per litre but I haven't pulled the trigger on it while I've been working from home.

Bridgeport and Death Valley. I never stop in Bridgeport, except for Burger Barn. Topaz Chevron is the cheapest south of Gardnerville, if I don’t fill up at Wa She Shu.

I’m fortunate to live less than 5 miles from work. A tank lasts me forever. If I ever have to commute farther, I’ll take my wife’s ES300h.
