I received your logs on the 19th and your message yesterday. I just have not made an update for you yet. You are in line to get an update as soon as humanly possible. Some people have been waiting longer. I'm tuning hundreds of these trucks not just 5 or 10.

When it comes to the trans code features like S mode GL, Direct shift, etc. These were just finished and tested end of November.
You guys have to give me time to actually implement them into all the ECU IDs, but I haven't even gotten to do that because I'm now working on updates for people again because things are getting out of hand with everyone requesting / demanding updates.
Even though I posted and emailed people that updates would be pending until we finished that code for all ECUs.
There are 30+ unique IDs each of which requires it's own code.

2 and a half months seems like a very long time (with one of those months being holiday break mostly), but for custom code, this is not that long at all actually. Bigger companies like ecutek, cobb, etc you easily wait 6 months or a year or longer for new patch features.

Ugh... Yep waiting is the hardest part. Especially in an instant kind of world. My final engine tune is running perfect, so thanks for that and all the cool stuff you are developing for our trucks!

Now get that ass back to work! :D

@OVTune would there be any need or benefit to us resetting the LV ant AT values like the 3rd Gen Tacos? Also, what do these represent? Thanks

This is from the flash manager faq’s page.

ARE THERE ANY SPECIAL THINGS THAT ARE NECESSARY TO DO WHEN PERFORMING THIS UPDATE?

Yes. After flashing the update, you will need to reset the AT and LV values in the ECU.
    Perform it this way:
    1. Flash the truck. After completion, start the truck.
    Run flash Manager P5Flash Utility
Select "Reset LV" after completion select "Reset AT"
    After completion you are finished.

Not necessary. The Tundra ECU resets on a flash. The Tacoma one does not

    @TruckyTruck Verified! :thumbsup:

Edit: To elaborate for everyone, after a flash this will normally manifest itself as a low engine idle (~600rpms or so) in neutral and in gear (~400rpms or so). The ECU is collecting data and these reduced engine speeds should be completely gone and back to normal (700±50rpms) within 100 miles if not less. Transmission behavior might be slightly wonky as well, just get some miles in before coming to any conclusions.

Yes, this happened with mine and I thought something was wrong, but after talking with this fine gentleman, his suggestion was to drive it and let the ECU correct. My truck adjusted the idle after some driving. Thanks again

Got the truck flashed (again) and this time it is better than before. Nice to not be worried about how hard to stop when you need to. Thanks @OVTune! Now just waiting for the new options for the 2018.

So out of the people who purchased it what kind of mileage increases are you seeing if any? I had an OV tune for my 2017 tacoma and saw a 2-3 mpg increase. But I'm seeing 15.5 to 16 MPG with my Tundra right now and I think that's pretty much as good as it's going to get yeah?

I love the gear locking feature so I'm pretty much in just for that I just don't want my MPG to go down.

That looks like pretty reasonable economy, considering the usual suspects. Things like winter blend gasoline and maybe some longer warm-ups and idle time are going to bring that down, naturally.

Yeah i do about 90 miles of hwy driving everyday. But when I get to work i do some idling and short trips so it gets worse pretty quick. Usually averages 17-18mpg on the first trip to work on a new tank.

I’d love to see 16+ mpg. The giant sail on the bed of my truck isn’t doing me any favors though. Averaging a bit over 14 since I got it from the dealer.

What the hell happened to your taco? I thought for sure youd be the first one to put 500k miles on one.

Did it finally bite it or did you outgrow it?

Is this base tune or a finished tune? Base tune is horrible I am getting 13-14 with 80% highway (79mph with cruise) and 20% 60mph back roads with a handful of 4 ways and hills. Pretty consistent tank to tank for me. Factory tune got me 15-16 for the same routes prior. I don’t notice any mileage savings with gear lock. Hopefully it’s just my base tune and revised will give some gains!

Nope I still got it too. Currently sitting at 99,xxx

I was traveling for work doing about 1000 miles a week, did 40,000+ miles the first two years I had it. Travel then went to almost zero and did right at 20,000 in 2019. Currently averaging under 500 miles a month on the taco.

I considered trading it on the tundra but with my camper the tundra is too tall to fit anywhere (just shy of 8’) so I decided to keep the Tacoma for daily driving. The dealer was shocked but I told them I could let it sit for 2-3 years to become a low mileage truck and get the same trade value lol

    F1C3C052-9D80-4B63-ABED-225E1BBCD384.jpg

I just rolled over 20,000 on the tundra. I exercise it from time to time but it’s mostly been a few weekend trips and like 4 trips out west

All the 5.7L stuff is still beta, there's not such a thing as a finished tune quite yet. To be frank, if you're going nearly 80mph, your economy is going to be terrible. Consider the shape of the front of these things. Any speed over 60-65mph is going to start decreasing your best likely mpg number.

Yeah i see 13-14 at 75mph+ right now so thats not really surprising. Not many places where i live you can do that legally. Mostly 55-65mph speed limits where i am. Pretty limited by traffic too.

@shellshock we had almost the identical taco. Same rims, and color. Except i i h little black canadian flags where you have your american ones lol:thumbsup: I miss it sometimes. Mostly i want it back just to pop ovtunes turbo on it. That's a really nice Tundra. Did you get the base tune for it? I have the old purple dongle hanging around from when i ted the taco. Wonder if i can use it and get a discount on the tune...

I’ve done some testing for mat with my tundra. He’s still working on 19+ support. I’ve gotta take mine in for the fuel pump recall once Toyota has the fix :(

You can use the taco kit you have, just shoot mat a message on zendesk. It’s the same tuning software for both trucks so you are already set up.

Guys just to be clear......because people are still messaging and updating, demanding even, updates.
IF you want an update right now it's NOT coming with S Mode gear lock OR Direct Shift. I don't know how much more clear I can make that. I'm still writing the patches for the 30+ Unique IDs.

So, if you want an update now, next week, etc, Just know it's NOT coming with those features. I have not even got to finish them because right after I started working on it, 2 weeks later I'm getting emails demanding updates again. I am sorry I wasn't clear that "no more updates until these patches were done" was not clear enough. Outside of someone needing an update for issues (which I'm aware of and trying to figure out).

I appreciate and understand the excitement to get your trucks tuned with our features. But I have to be given some time to actually make them for your ECU. The code was *JUST* finished in December for ONE ecu.

Thanks for that. Like many others, I've been anxious to get the latest and greatest from you. However, I do understand you're a busy man and these things take time. Thanks for the hard work and keeping us up to date. Looking forward to getting the next update.

Why wouldn't you just flash back to the factory tune and wait for your revised tune??

I plan to now that I know it’s going to be a while. I didn’t expect it to take 3 months. I was thinking a few weeks for a revision...
