No I am not SC. I did have traction control disabled although that would only matter if you did a stationary burn out. I did not do the burnout for the second file. Only a spirited take off.
Again, anyone correct me or offer more advice if Ive forgotten anything.

What octane tune are are you guys running for your N/A Tundra? The base tune Mat sent me was a 93 octane since I didn’t specify. I asked him for an 87 tune but was curious what you guys were going with and why.

My Tacoma was tuned with 87. Don’t have the Tundra tuned yet. Need to see about my Tacoma tune kit working on the Tundra also.

    I’m running 87 because that’s what’s easily available where I frequent.

You'll want to run 93 until you can get an 87 tune just to be on the safe side. Once you get the 87 tune you can run 87 or higher. Basically you can run higher octane but not lower than what you're tuned for.

I got a 91 tune because a lot of places around me don't have 93. Wanted to be safe.

@OVTune order#5058, sent you email with no response. maybe this will get visibility here?

i went to the dealer and had my ECU re-flashed since reading the calibration file #'s seemed that possibly had the incorrect TRD SC flash installed. now sitting with the info below. still same part # ECU which i think is the hold up for my order.

    Interface: Tactrix Inc. - OpenPort 2.0 J2534 ISO/CAN/VPW/PWM
    DLL: 1.02.4791 Jun 2 2016 12:43:17
    Firmware: 1.17.4877
    10:37:28 Identification
    VIN: 5TDBY64A68S014744
    Calibration: 3YWL5000 A0C01000
    Calibration file: 89663-YWL50
    Hardware: USK6## 3URFE
    Part Number: 89661-0CD32
    CVN: 5594634E-2C411C65
    10:37:28 Completed successfully

there is an EBAY ECU for sale for $100 obo. should i buy this since my dealer verified compatibility between it, 89661-0CD31 and mine 89661-0CD32?

any response would be greatly appreciated!

Hopefully you will get out some sort of status update when you are back in the office?

I'm ready to have my gear lock working correctly. And of course I'm chomping at the bit over the direct shift.

We are ready for your Tacoma guys to be put in the back burner for a while...

Anyway, hope your arm is doing better!

@OVTune or anyone else who has dealt w this issue,

I am wondering what OEM base flash is required for a tune. I have been following this thread for a while and I know that this has already been discussed but I'm wondering if there is any change in accepted OEM flash versions.

I have a 2018 truck with coilovers (3'' lift) and at my last service appointment I was denied an ECU update for the pre-collision/ safety system sensor. Do I need to try to find a dealer who will update my ECU?

    Order #5612

    Thanks guys

    Mine is a 2016 FFV. I run 87 octane (I don't run E85) with 33" tires. A few questions:

    1. S-mode will allow me to shift all the gears like a manual, without the clutch. Will it stall like a manual if not down-shifted when slowing?
    2. 87 tune will allow to get some power back after the tire tize increase and increased mileage, correct? I average 12.5 now.
    3. Tow haul mode will still have an optimized tune for towing?

    Thanks.

    You asking anyone?

    1. There is only one truck that I've heard of with direct shift during s-mode. Eventually all that request it with have this. Stalling- It's not supposed to, just shifts down.

    2. Probably, unless you drive like a jerk. On 35s, I easily achieve 16 mpg -- highway miles. I haven't cared to check city.

    3. If you request your tow button to be optimized for towing, I'm sure he could do it. Not really sure if anyone's tow button does anything at this point though. Mat is working on that.

Trucky Truck answered your first two, I will answer your third question. Yes if you request a second towing tune from OVTune you can have it set up to activate when tow/haul is pressed. It is the way I had Matt design my tune. Normal 91+ octane tune upon start up, and Towing enhanced 91+ octane tune when tow/haul is pressed.

Honestly Gary its been so long since my truck was stock...But it seems to do much the same as it did stock...stretching the gears out longer to stay in the powerband and such. One thing I can say for sure is the shifts are much firmer as it shifts up. Also it hold's the gear a little better for engine braking going down a hill. Matt also said he set's the towing tunes up to be considerably safer under load and at elevation and such. My guess is it is maybe down a little on power using less timing and fuel, but he would have to explain that in more detail as I do not feel a noticable power decrease.

Edit: Ive only towed a few times since the last revision but will have an even better feel for it when my summer stuff comes out again in a few months...Toyhauler...Boats...Etc...

Let’s trade trucks. Mine sees 14 tops.. driving like a grandpa.

I probably need to log and send them off to mat for fine tuning.

Also need to get in on the direct shift action.

I think that would be a good idea.

@OVTune how long does it typically take for tune revisions? Are you back up to speed with holidays/health? Sent my logs in 3 weeks ago from the base tune, and looking for some info on what base tune/features I actually got. Order#5221.

In the future could you list what features are included in the tune, and how to use them when you send the tune. My tow haul button does do gear lock but no torque converter lock up and also it does gear lock in tow haul in BOTH S mode or D!!!!

For safety reasons it should be required to know before you hit the road what does what so that on an on ramp on the highway you dont crash trying to merge with no power in D in tow haul mode as its stuck in 6th from a slow long on ramp...!!! Was dangerous finding that out the hard way for the first time!!! Also in traffic in tow haul and d you cannot pass with power you have to remember to turn off tow haul and then pass and then turn it back on if you want gear lock! Esp when towing!
