I'm happy. Truck is full of power, just getting the shift points dialed in.

You can read back through this thread as there are a few of us who have been sharing our thoughts and reviews since we started the OVTune process back in May. Came from a BD tune myself and OVTune is much better. I'm working on revision #5 or so now and need to send Matt some logs, but the only thing needing tweaked at the moment is the 3-4 shift in tow mode.

How much of those changes will pre-2018 trucks get with the smaller ecu space?

Matt Are you guys close on the tune for 2019 ECU?
I had the Tacoma tune since beta. It was totally worth it. And this truck needs serious help, and a Magnuson SC.

I still have my registered tacoma dongle I might be able to use it to see what ECU it is?

We are testing a method but it requires sending us the ECU first.
Connect your kit to the truck and email us the ECU ID.

EDIT as a matter of fact zendesk me, I have a ecu you can test :)

Its no fair reading all this as I am still waiting for my delivery! I have a trip in a few weeks with the travel trailer I cant wait to test things out on. I am considering purchasing a SC in the future. Does anybody know what it costs to transfer to a SC tune from a N/A tune? I am sure some here have done that? I would email Mat but I dont want to bother him!

No, you should just email him. It's not going to bother him. It just takes a little time for replies since he is working on all of out trucks and who knows how many tacomas.

Howdy. Been lurking this thread for awhile now. I have 16 Tundra DC that I supercharged last fall and had been running a BD programmer, +2 psi URD pulley, and an aeromotive 340 LPH FP. I've been happy with the truck, but I knew there was quite a bit left on the table with tuning. I pulled the trigger on the ordering the OV tune during the labor day sale. Dongle and cable were shipped and delivered fast. Got the ECU ID sent and had the tune file back in a few days. I got the tune loaded a couple days ago and have gotten 50 or so miles on it. First impressions are good. Truck is smooth and has better on demand power. Shifts have been good and firm at light throttle and full throttle. I have had a little shift studder at 3/4 throttle on 3-4/4-5 upshift. Nothing crazy but hopefully it can get smoothed out. Overall impressed with the first flash and really looking forward to the new data logger to get some fine tuning done and hopefully wick it up a bit more!

My sentiments exactly! Better then my TRD tune as far as smoothness of shifting and power delivery...slight shudders at upper gear shifts but not enough to make me angry...the juice will be worth the squeeze! My most favorite feature is the Gear-Lock that's enabled...that alone is what sold me on this tune! Thank you again OVT for your dedication to this perfection! Looking forward to dialing everything in more when the move tot he new shops extravaganza finds a lull...

Awesome to hear this! Your setup sounds similar to mine, though I assume my fuel pump is whatever upgraded unit that comes with the TRD supercharger.

I also have the IPT trans shift kit/valve body, so I'm expecting some adjustments may need to be made based on how the tune runs.

I'll post a review as soon as get my tune, I have a "special" ECU it seems :p taking a bit longer than usual, but I know the wait will be worth it!

I uninstalled my BD tune a week ago so I could get used to the old TRD tune before making the switch to OV. Relying on my butt Dyno for those measurements until I can get on the rollers and compare stock, vs 91 vs 93 back to back.

I'm super excited to try gear lock in 4wd with the throttle limits removed. It's going to make climbs and deep sand much easier

They'll be fine. Tundra CVs are probably the strongest oem CVs you can get.

But you can break anything if you try hard enough. Obviously I'll be using throttle judiciously while I'm on the rocks

I also carry a full spare CV axle assembly in case I ever do break one

They really are. I beat the sht out of my truck and I've never broken a tie rod. I did explode a CV at 60k but I was on a fire road. I think it was just worn and gave up the ghost

Thx! But it's not just me, I've been wheeling with a fairly large group of Tundras for years. I've seen it all man. I know exactly which parts are fragile. There aren't many and tie rods /CVs are definitely not on the list

@OVTune I sure do hope that you have the 2019 mapping ready when you return. I'm sitting on go when you're ready for my SC'd 2019.

Also, can your programming provide the ability to display the transmission temp? That's the one thing I miss about my 2012 over my 2019.

Im running 33x12.5x20 LT Nitto Ridge Graps. Stock gears. I see max of 9 lbs of boost. I'm about 600 ft above sea level. If you go from the Yota flash to the OV, I don't think you will be disappointed. Haven't felt the odd shift in the last day or so. Maybe the trans logic got it sorted out. Maybe i just haven't hit the right throttle/rpm spot to duplicate it. It was way more common to get odd shifts on the BD tune.

Do you have an ETA on the new logger and will you be available to work on tune adjustments for those of us that already got our tunes?
