Some other nannies yes. Like SAI throttle limits and that junk.
Could *probably* make any gauge do anything but it has to be practical.

Oh cool, I wasn't to clear on the map switching part or what my tow haul button did anymore other than locking the gears, which is also does in drive. It would certainly be nice to have the option of an 87 octane tune, just in case...

Much needed info, probably should be in the 1st post.

Ok guys, no more questions please, I sent Matt my config and he's building my tune... Please let's not distract him for a bit :annoyed:

@OVTune question on the map switching with tow haul button:

Does it remember which map you have set every time you turn off/on the truck??? If I have map 1 for 87 and map 2 for 91, I wouldn't want it to default to a particular map every time I start the truck. That could be bad haha

Thank you for the clarification on features that come turned on. My last comment to avoid clogging this thread, is it possible to make the stock transmission temperature gauge (and engine temp gauge) actually show accurate temperature readings? My biggest annoyance is I need my phone to monitor the ATF temp even though I have the stupid stock gauge that never moves. Can that be set to something like low is 120F and high is 320F or something?

This is awesome. I’m waiting for my tune now and didn’t know I needed to specify. What would I need to do for map switching.

Also, what all choices do we have for the map switch tunes?

EDIT: although nap switching sounds nice

Having a compiled list of standard features in all, optional features and then definitions of what each does would be a huge, huge, huge help to those new to Tundra tuning.

Would you be able to have the battery gauge work normally for one tune, and press the tow/haulass button switching to another tune and then the battery gauge turns into afr meter? That would be bad ass.

Would also be cool to have the second tune turn off all the nannies also (true beast mode). But still be able to turn traction control on in case you are actually towing.

Disabling nannies by default at vehicle start may be a slippery slope for a tuner. If the vehicle isn't "safe" when it's turned on, there could be liability issues. They may be able to make it a single button press to accomplish all nannies off, instead of making you do the button dance. But then the issue is, suppose you do want auto LSD or Atrac to work - how do you get to that?

The ECU determines E% through calculations based on the O2 sensors and either adds or reduces fuel and spark in order to keep AFR "correct". It's a pretty horrible solution overall and they should have just put an E% reader in the fuel line.

Most ECU as far as I know don't have a persistent KAM in order to 'remember' the last setting. Typically you choose a base value that the truck starts with every time, and then make an adjustment after the key is on if you want something other than your base value. Basically the truck is gonna start in 87 map every time, until you press the Tow/Haul (or use the cruise control stalk if we can talk them into that switching method).

What app are you using to read trans temp on your phone? I've only seen the trans temp run on the CANBUS and not on the OBDii.

    @OVTune

    Could you clear this up?
Is the 93 tune I have already set up this way or is this something different? I'd like to have the option to switch to 87, but not at the expense of having more power in the current 93 tune that I have for towing.

    From your site under towing:
That means all new fuel controls ,all new ignition tables, lock up(if desired) and much more.
Independent VVT Tables that are setup specifically for TOWING and pulling weight.

Yeah, this is where fuel type switching with cruise control would be nice. because then the tow/haul button could still be a tow/haul button and just change the vvt tables for towing.

Sorry, KAM is Keep Alive Memory. it's like RAM in your computer - it's information the ECU is using while the engine is running, but it goes away when you turn the key off.

The benefit of using the cruise control to change fuel types is that the Tow/Haul button can still be used to change fuel and timing curves independent of fuel type so that there are still unloaded and fully loaded options (keeps the Tow/Haul button's original functionality).

basically with the cruise control stalk, you could pull and hold towards you until the tach needle jumps to show you what map you're on (default at sstartup is 1). then move the cruise stalk up and down to move through the map selections (probably 1 and 2, unless he expanded to like 4 different maps) and the tach will show you which map you're on 1, 2, 3, or 4. Pull toward you once to set that map as the one you want to use.

Well if they're not accurate the more reason to inquire about the dash gauge being made functional. So far they show realistic numbers for me, but that's not saying much.

Is that your car? Our FRS tune is exactly where the idea came from. We ran the ECUTek from Crawford.

@osidepunker it's super easy, the explanation is more convoluted than the actual use.

    Pull and hold, up, pull.

This is what I'd like to see with my truck. Before I send an email to zendesk, could you tell me if it is possible.

    While in D:
*Starting the truck each time -93 with expanded vvt/holy moly power mode.
    * Press tow haul - 87 octane map. Again, as best as that octane can perform.
    * Battery gauge shows battery

    S mode:
automatically goes into gear lock without pressing tow haul and forces the truck back to 93 octane/vvt goodie, Dyno day power.

    While in S:
*Upon moving to S mode- map switches to 93 octane like it's set up in D
*Pressing tow haul - does not switch to 87 octane, but stays in 93 octane and expands the 93 map for towing setup.
    * Battery gauge shows afr

I'd like the option to run 87 if that's all I could get as a fuel source, but also would like the tow haul button to function as a tow map only under S mode and only for 93.

Is this possible and am I off track with any of it?

Edit: of course, I may need to wait to request anything, due to any additional options you have coming... :notsure:

That could get pretty confusing pretty quickly.

    I'd propose:

    Cruise Control for fuel switching

    Tow/Haul for Holy Moley Power

    S mode for gear lock

I like that Kevin, I keep thinking what I am giving up by taking over the Tow Haul button and the scenario you have here would be nice.

The Nannies I have under control with TR7 switches that I have wired up with a button to turn it on/off. I have the button turned off at all times for normal factory mode. When I turn the button on the TR7's are on when the ignition is turned on and they do the button pushing for me. At the time I want granularity I have full control.

Technically yes this is possible simply by using a several branch statements in code that correspond to option criteria ( go here if X is enabled, go here if X and Y enabled, go here if X Y and Z, etc)

However..this isnt something we'd likely do, due to it being a 1 off custom coded job that would likely never be used or requested by others.
We could do it but custom coding outside of features we create I would have to charges for dev time :(

I could get on board with that...

    Cruise control shifts between 87, 89, 93

I'd want the truck button to start out with holy moly power though.

Then when tow haul is pressed, it's set for towing.

    You are on to something:hattip:
