That's understandable, maybe @KevinK has the more simple solution

I already mentioned some pages ago we have map switch via cruise control in the works already on the Tacoma, and can be ported to the tundra.
Caveat to that is, there is much less available ROM space in the tundra, so we can't go too crazy without running out of space. Except the 2018, which has more free space than used space lol

Once our full time close loop fuel code for the Tacoma is finished up (** hopefully before this Friday) I will have a complete list, info, etc on all current Tundra options, features, etc and what's coming in the future.

Yea anyone with a 2018 will have practically anything we can create implemented without any limitation.

Only hold back right now is that it's all developed on the Tacoma first lol.

Maybe I'm the minority, I just want something simple and basic. I want full fucking power all the time and manual gear control when it's in S. At most tow button does something for towing and that's it. I couldn't care less about 18 different tunes.

If there's low octane fuel just don't floor it, problem solved. Already had that happen with the supercharger once. Ran on 85 octane in the middle of nowhere and no issue.

    bingo.

I don't really need different fuel maps, but putting them on the cruise control for people who want them would keep them off the tow haul button for those of us who want to keep that functionality.

On our FRS we had an E85 tune and a regular gas tune, but only because I never bothered installing an E% reader.

I'm speculating on the possibility of a daily driver set-up with some variability, and a watch-this-hold-my-beer set-up with some variability. We'll just have to see what can be implemented practically and what's available.

I'm sure you aren't in the minority. But if there is 18 different tunes, I want all 18

Hell yes, I'd like to be able to switch to 87 from 93 if I needed/wanted to without having to worry about feathering the pedal.

Maybe, but then I am as well this is a truck and i use it as such. Matt has mine set up just the way I want it. Full power for my SC FFV at start up and towing tune w/gear lock when I press tow/haul. keep it simple and make it work well. Shit...if I feel like getting sporty my 6K crew cab is not my go to. That is when the GT500 or the SVT Cobra come out to play. Maybe my nitrous injected big bore VMax...Or any number of my other bikes would blow the truck away also...my point is..."the right tool for the right job"...and for me at least my 6K pound truck is not a hot rod.

    I'd literally be fine with:

    1. Normal mode (maybe with better shift points)
    2. Prius mode

    :D

If you can enable Prius mode...I'm all-in here...

Yes, this stuff needs to be kept simple. I'm all for switching maps, but lets be honest, how many times are people actually going to be switching maps once the novelty wears off???

@OVTune If I am going to have the option of 87 and 91 maps, I need The Truck to be able start in the map I choose. For example, I would probably run 91 most of the time so I need it to start with that map. But maybe I travel somewhere and cant find 91. In that case I would fill up with 87 and I would need to start every time in that map until I run the tank dry and can fill up with 91 again. If I have to remember to switch to the 87 map every time I start The Truck, I'm gonna screw up and forget.

Two maps on the tow haul button and gear lock in S mode sounds simple and ideal. And if you want to do the silly cruise control thing so @KevinK will shut up, I suppose I can get behind that :rofl:

I am in the same boat except it is my fault. My Toughbook was set to auto update and now the logger program crashes each time it connects with the ECU.

The delay could very well be due to you having a 2018 like I do and there is a hold if I understood correctly to get the additional features in place. Then again I could be wrong since I have been known to complain privately and in here o_O

Mine is due to my dealership refusing to update the ECU on my truck because I relocated the TSS unit. Matt has agreed to let me sell my license and cable to another person since I’m unable to tune my truck. Anyone interested in a discounted OV license let me know.

It's not the same situation at all.. He has a 2018 that requires an update from the dealer that cannot be done.

I lifted my 2018 Platinum, put a 2019 TRD Pro grill on it so obviously my sensor was relocated. Your stealership is NOT the only one around, try to go to others. See if you can find someone on here that works at a stealership near you. You will like the difference with the tune (I have heard) so if it were me I would not give up. This whole process for me started on May 22nd when I sent in the first part of this process. It will be worth it

My dealer sent a notification to Toyota and attached it to my VIN, stating that I had performed unapproved modifications to my truck and it’s now in all Toyota systems that they are not to update my ECU or TSS. Even slapped a sticker on the dash. All of this because I took it in for the 10k mile maintenance..super frustrating. I have called a few other dealers around and they all say they can see the notice from Toyota and won't touch it.

Unfortunately dealerships are really being difficult with this stuff. Same boat on Tacoma. That retrain is riddled with issues and toyota has updated it multiple times and dealerships refuse to put the update on those trucks too.

They will refuse for lifts, tires, bad day, cold coffee..

The 2018 progress when we began was slow, paired with me being slowed down for weeks from my newborn son.
But that's all passed and we just need our new logger finished. Developer is working on it. I want it done just as much as we all do.

When you look at the big picture this is smelling like a Class Action Lawsuit against Toyota. They will sell you a stock truck and you are golden for life "if" you do not modify the original height of the vehicle be it tires or suspension. Now they would be glad to sell you a lifted truck at their cost... but you still cannot change it.

So what do you do? If this was not communicated to the buyer at the time of purchase then we as consumers that were not told the truth should be able to return the vehicle to the stealership for a refund.

Tough scenario but I am sure some deep pocket fast talking professional Lawyer would enjoy the ride. Anyone know how many other "truck" manufacturer's have the Adaptive Cruise Control radar feature on their trucks? Do they have the same problem with a flawed system and are they scrambling to control it?

Can a normal shop not update it? When I installed my supercharger I couldn't get the dealership to talk to me about flashing the TRD tune onto the ECU, so I called around and a local shop let me go in and buy the 2 day techstream pass and use their fancy OBD2 machine to let my laptop and techstream software talk to the computer. I reflashed the ECU myself (with their tool). Seems like if all you need is a reflash any old shop should be able to pull it off, unless there's something special or different that you're doing that can't be done with the techstream?

Techstream works with our OBDII cables and it's possible to update ECUs right from your house. However techstream has an additional cost on top $70
