Does the tune improve how quickly the transmission manually shifts in Sequential mode? Stock the shifts are super slow to respond.

He can mod your tune for the shift points your desire. He has done it for me.

Shift points or manual shift change speed? I understand them as two different things.

Yes that is correct ideally you want to lock it in 4th and maintain a target rpm for a specific amount of time. That’s challenge with our trucks. When I had my SC Sequoia dyno’d with the HP tune that was the problem that they were running into same as Matt. They couldn’t keep it in fourth gear to do the tune because it would downshift about 3500 rpm’s. Keith says that there’s a trick to it that he was able to do to keep it in fourth gear running the RPMs necessary to get a good tune. Most tuners are familiar with LS engines they actually have a gear select and can lock the preferred gear in, not available on the Toyota’s unfortunately

That annoys the crap out of me in the S mode of shifting, why give you the option of shifting if it does not shift when you make the shift.

I can go into better detail on how the transmission and shifting works if you guys really want to know.
As far as changing shift speed (how fast it shifts?) definitely tune-able.

2018+ Only Tundra ECU patch notes:
    Phase 2.

Through more testing and code work we have enhanced our 2018 + ECU tables. Exclusive to OVTune, if you have a 2018 Tundra (and upcoming for 2019!!) we have made big changes to the ECU.
(due to size limits on older ECUs, some of these features are only available to 2018s) With the 2018+ ECU having more than 4x as much free space available, it will get even more features in the future.
This will all be available soon via our blog post on it too.
These features are finished, coded, and now ready to send out.
Map size increase is 150% more resolution than stock!

    - Ignition BIG MAP - updated versions of our original patch

    - valve timing BIG MAP - updated versions of our original patch

    Supercharged
    - Supercharged Fueling Mod - Fuel Map - similar to older ECU patch

I probably don't realize what I'm asking or any implications of it, but I'll ask anyway.

Is it possible to purchase one of these newer ecu's for an older model? And if so, would there be any benefit of doing that to a truck like mine?

Again, im not sure it would even work or be worth it. I just plan on keeping my truck, even if I buy a newer one some day.

    Won't work :(

Also, if there is anyone with a 2018 and our flash kit interested in testing a patch for us, please let me know!
MAF - Delete - with our Airflow compensated Alpha - N fuel model (which will soon be converted to speed density, pressure based, on Supercharged trucks)

If you had to guess, how much better will the newer trucks perform with that much extra space?

Depends on how many features we develop. Plenty of room in the ECU to develop a LOT, just depends on what features we want to make, and what features the community is looking for.

I think this would be a good read, but only after we have the opportunity to experience what you've accomplished to date (for comparison). ;)

stock shift points? or literally "stock tune" in S mode.. as in stock VVT.. stock fuel.. stock ignition.. etc (*extremely* unlikely)

    Hahaha! *pointing finger*

Just kidding! I appreciate that you had the mindfulness to think and ask about this to give those of us that also have a DAP tune flashed a reminder and refresher as to the what we're comparing our trucks performance and behavior to once the OV tunes are available to more owners.
