    Matt,

have a couple questions here on the forum can you clarify some things.

I need to jump on purchasing the vF software plus Flash cable and the Tune pack.

does both need to be purchased in order to tune the 2019 Tundra. 3URFBE FFV...

or does the vF software and Flash cable allow me to properly install the tune that you have personally been working on. Could you please verify considering this is new to me maybe others as to what exactly needs to be purchased per tuning our 2019 Tundras?

You would need to buy both. The software and cable gives you the ability to adjust/tune the ecu if you know what you are doing. The Tune pack is just that. It is suppose to be all the features they have custom coded along with I think a base tune. Quote Mat for better chances of a reply from him.

Hey guys just to be clear, S mode still defaults to 4th like it always does when you switch to S.
    Smode gearlock doesn't change that.

Is that an ecu I'd or a calibration id? I'm trying to find my ecu id with techstream, I've got the calibration id of 30CP8001. I didn't think this was it because it doesn't have the same amount of digits as what's been mentioned ie; 0CJ64.

I think your partial ECU I.D. is 30CP8001.
Your calibration is 0CP80. I don't pretend to understand why this is, it may be just a matter of common usage although there may be a rationale behind it.

Will the torque converter stay locked once it locks up while in s mode?

So I went back and looked at my first ECU reading using OV Tunes software. Honestly I don't have a confident grasp of certain components of the information. I think that ultimately, when things are up and running, initially you'll only be able to access tunes suitable for your ECU. The exception may be if you were to branch out and want to tune/flash someone else's vehicles. We're all still subject to the learning curve here, so take everything with a grain of salt. Unless of course Mat addresses an item specifically.

    Your calibration is 89663-0CP80

and your truck has a recall from toyota which you'll need done, and it will update your truck to 89663-0CP81

Thank you for clearing this up. When I put in my VIN, it doesn't come back saying I have a recall other than the dim turn signals. Or is it just a standard update?

I read your email, and will reply to you there and here.

I think some of you guys are still failing to understand how it works. It's actually simple.

Put the truck into S mode. Don't push Tow button.
    Floor the truck.
    Does it downshift?
    No?
    bingo, gearlock.

    Press the shifter UP.
    Does it upshift?
    Yes?
    Directshift.

To make this ........as easy as humanly possible to understand and test.

If you want to confirm that it works, do this.

Put the truck in S mode. Do not press Tow Haul.
Put it into S3. Get the RPM to about 2500 RPM.
    FLOOR THE TRUCK.
Does it downshift? No ? (gearlock confirmed)
While still at full throttle, click the shifter UP.
Does it upshift before 6000 rpm?
    Directshift confirmed.

When at full throttle there will be a 100-200 rpm delay or so on shifts. The transmission is not instant, it shifts as fast as it can.

I’m not sure how people are still struggling to understand direct shift and gear lock. This is pretty simple..

looking forward to having it on my 19 one of these days.

I believe I started this because the entire time the Direct Shift has been discussed it was described as instant shifting which is what I was looking for when I tried it. It was not instant as described so I did not think it was working.

With 4139 posts it is not an easy task to go back and dig through the last year I have been going through this but that is the way I remember it being discussed. When I get some time I will see if I can find the discussion when the topic was first brought up. It is what it is, I am used to driving my Wife’s Avalon in Sport mode and in S mode for shifting with the steering wheel paddles going through the mountains. That thing shifts quick for factory
