I believe the tunes are read locked, so reads will fail.

if the flash said it completed successfully, you’ve got it loaded. There’s really no way to verify though unless mat uses a custom ECU ID that shows up
When you hit identify but I’m not sure if he’s still doing that or not.

    Ok well thats hopeful. Thanks.

So how can I confirm this is an OVTune with the shifting? Whats something I can try that a stock ecm would do differently?
    (Doesnt that seem stock?)

Gotta ask the question, did you request Gear Lock and is there a "GL" in the file name? Also, I'm pretty sure that Direct Shift is not out for the masses yet.

Yeah I don't think I specifically requested it this truck.

It was there in my previous truck from him because he added it automatically back then (it was kind of the demo phase).

Maybe now he doesn't without asking?

I was under the impression you get it unless you request it not to be there. (Could be wrong though).

I'll have a wideband soon enough... But until then I would really like to be sure it took.. going from n/a to SC I can't use my seat of the pants gauge to say the tune feels different. Lol.

Are you sure it downshifted to 4, or just unlocked the TC? Sometimes kind of hard to tell. Mine's not S/C, of course, but if mine's going to actually downshift (with tow/haul off) the TC unlocks first for a second or so, then it downshifts. Two distinct movements..... unless I really stomp on it, then it's instantaneous, and usually from 50 mph drops to 3rd.

Definitely doesn't sound like you have gearlock, but from what people have said and my experience you need to explicitly ask for any features such as gear lock. You can get a blue tooth obd2 adapter and use torquepro or other apps to monitor afr. It's less range than a stand alone wideband, but all you really need to know is if you're running lean anyways. It'd be a cheap and easy way to monitor until you get a gauge.

I strongly suspect that it will be something you'll be able to add yourself when the vF software is out.

Try 50mph in S4 and note your RPMs, bump it up to S5 and let it shift. Make sure you're at 50mph again then prompt it to downshift like you did before, when it does note the RPMs again. If they match then no GL. The difference between 5th locked/unlocked is kinda subtle, 5th to 4th is quite a bit less so, you probably know your truck well enough to tell the difference and you don't have GL, this is just a way to be a bit more certain.

Thanks for the tips guys. I will try this out tomorrow on the way home (at fire department today).

I do have the BT OBD2 reader but im not sure if that has access to the wideband O2's, I think its just the narrowband that are only good at 14.7.

Ill double check the shifting again and just wait for Matt. Thanks again for the input everyone.

Ok so a little update on my story...

It seems I DO have the OV flash working.

Tonight I found that cruising in S mod with tow/haul Off ...I do have gear lock AND direct shift.
With t/h ON , even in Sport, it DOES downshift. That's what was throwing me off.

I did also get a Maf dash light and a pending lean dash light (pic attached).

Not sure what's up with that.

Cleared the code and will keep an eye on it tomorrow.

Was there any backfiring? Did you check your plugs? I would be very careful, leaning out a supercharged engine is one of the best ways I know of to grenade your motor.

No backfire, havent checked the plugs yet.

I definitely agree. Going to scan some and send it in to Matt.

Yep, I think that your priority would be to get Mat some data logs.

This is great news! I've been waiting for this for a long time. I guess its better than swapping in a 18' ECU

Is the software easy enough that my local dyno tuner can work on it?

I'd like for my 2013 to have some type of ethanol improvement. Do you think it would be worth it for a N/A truck?
