I was looking at putting the old man emu 3" x 1" setup on my tundra through toytec. When I explained what all I was planning on doing the recommended deaver springs since the ome kit wouldn't be able to hold the weight of what I am adding. So.....what suspension setup do you guys have with big weight in the back???Here is my truck with the camper on and a pic of what I want to build in the back. Think overlander but in the bed.....

I also have an 05 with a cap and wooden drawers. I added wheelers 3 pack aal with no overload spring and only got about an inch of lift. However it does ride very smooth and with the new 5100 seems to handle the weight just fine.

I’m worried however that as I add any more weight or tow it’s going to squat and ride nose high.

Thank you for the input! I just have a leveling kit that I bought in 07 on right now. It's time for new shocks so I was just going to upgrade all.

I currently have a 2002 with the OME 2.5"/1.5" from 1Genoffroad that was recently installed on it before purchased it. The guy was going to make it an overland vehicle and decided to buy a 2019 Tundra instead. I have loaded my bed with gravel once and it barely squatted. I purchased the truck for my son since he liked the stance, but he does not like it. It rides STIFF IMO and the CV axles have torn once on each side due to the CV angles. It's only 18 months old and I am looking at pulling it all off and going to stock. Lifts are not my forte and we do not need such a beefy suspension.

If your boots keep ripping I would suggest doing a diff drop ~$40 and takes a few minutes to install. I would also switch to a high angle CV boot from off road solutions.

I wouldn't rip out the OME gear.

Shocks will hold up fine, it's the leaf springs that will need to be beefed up. How much weight are you looking at adding?

Rock Climber I plan on wood frame pictured above. I was thinking i would take the blocks off the back and purchase the icon add a leaf..... if i needed a smaller block after adding the weight i would accommodate. On another note....... I have a nasty shutter/vibrate at 65+ MPH with the lift. I have had 3 different shops do ballance with the same end result. You guys think it is UCA's???

I'd go with Wheelers AAL, haven't heard many good things about the icon. The AAL will give you height but not capacity, you may still bottom out the rear suspension a lot. You can add roughly the same amount of weight in the bed and see how it rides before you decide.

Did the tire shops do a road force balance? Our trucks can be finicky to a good balance. My OME lift didn't cause any vibration issues at all (before and after alignment)

I'm assuming no now that I have done more research..... To give you a background I put the leveling kit on in 2006. Spacers up front blocks in the back.My buddy had some Baja 305 75 That I ran for about 3 months. After that I went to BFG 265 and I have been running that size ever since. I noticed after I got rid of the ta kos and had the new tires balanced that it was vibrating. The shop I took it too was a friend of mine so I didn't think he would do me dirty. He rode in the truck with me and noticed it. I dropped it off the next day and he balanced again. No change at 65mph. Soooooooo. I took it to another shop to balance......no difference. I have just dealt with it for years now!
