So stopped at gas station today and opposite side of the island pulls up a TRX.

Now being honest they are nice trucks - nothing special about this one - just a regular TRX. Another Ram 1600 pulls in behind and I hear him say “nice truck” and start asking questions of the TRX driver.

Had to watch and make sure they could see the expression on my face with the stupidity of some of Mr TRXs comments. I mean your money - your choice - and overall they are nice trucks. To me personally - not 100k nice. Hell for that money I can source a 21 Pro and have 50k left over if I go the DC route basically.

Started off saying how great it is “pulling up next to some kid in a Mustang and watching their jaws drop as he beats them off the line” - congrats on your ability to smoke some 18 year old kid in a older POS pony car at stop lights - I’m sure that you feel your truck was money well spent - but you do realize that there are plenty of trucks with that ability not called the TRX, Raptor or Lightning.

“It drives like an old Cadillac” - I’m guessing he meant it feels like riding on air and not manages to waste 80% of its engine power and break down every other week requiring a costly repair - but then again could well be both. Again - just buy a truck because I want a truck - not an SUV. Suspension setup is important - but if really can’t see enjoying a SUV like ride. Personal preference.

“It’s one of the first the local dealer ever sold” - I guess this means you are in some exclusive owners club. Not sure if that 6 figure price tag gets you a “special lounge” access during oil changes and recall work - kinda like Lincoln/Ford do with their special “1st class waiting area” - and given the amount of time you might spend there - it’s a nice touch - but again “really” - hell I could buy a county club membership for a decade for the savings on Toyota.

I don’t know - could just be me - but at a point you have to draw a line on stuff and say “that’s too damn much money” for what your really getting. I mean nice - but 100 grand nice. If I want a Hellcat - I’ll buy the car. Better yet - I’ll buy a nicely optioned Challenger and a Tundra to tow it around with. I know people who say I’m stupid for spending 50 on a truck - probably have 15-20 in some square body that’s just as reliable for them. Probably right too - but I like features like working AC and a radio with a screen on it. Classics as daily drivers is just tough for me. Enjoy them for what they are - but when I need to drive more than 30 miles - I’ll stick to a vehicle built this millennium.

lol, so you came on to a Tundra site to smugly disparage two dudes talking about trucks? Oh the irony.

No - just pointing out the stupidity of some truck owners.

Are you somehow suggesting Tundra (or any other brand) owners are as stupidly overly proud of the purchase of their vehicle for the reasons as this dude was ??

Again - no different than several thousand middle aged people buying a German made auto with the mistaken belief that owning a car costing 5x what a normal daily driver cost new results in having a “better” vehicle. Sorry - it just shows what little you know about vehicles to serious enthusiasts.

At a point - your just paying for badges and ego - I mean seriously - you take pride in “beating” 20 year old kids in 20 year old Mustangs with your 100k truck. I do the same in my 50k Tundra and will be able to do it in my 7k project truck. Want a Hellcat - great - it’s a powerful motor and very impressive. But the most important part in the car is the ass in the driver seat. Throw loudmouth in the same setup as the other driver on a track and my money is loudmouth looses 85% of the time.

And where’s the irony - for the most part the conversation on here is INTELLIGENT discussion of trucks. Exceptions can be found sure - but it’s not as if dude was talking facts/specs or anything definite. He’s bragging how much more his purchase made him feel like a man.

Good for him - but if your looking to increase your manhood - the sell pills for that at a much lower cost and they last longer than a Fiat turbo too.

In all honesty, your post is a result of your own ego... Let's at least be fair.

So dude spent HIS money on HIS truck and he likes it. Apparently, other people like it too and want to shoot the shit about it. Let him enjoy it the way he wants.

Never said it’s not his right to spend/waste money as he likes. The general lack of taste of the population as a whole is well documented as well and evidenced by the sorry state of “rock music” today.

    Salty - me - nah…like I said - I just find stupidity a unappealing quality in people.

You think this guy's decision was stupid, but that's based on your income, your values, and your priorities. Maybe he makes $220k a year and this was a drop in the bucket for him? Maybe his dad fawned over this type of truck for the last 10 years and just passed away, so now every time this guy turns the ignition and goes for a ride he's reminded of his pop? Your opinion does not count as stupid or intelligent, and neither does his.

Some may consider it stupid to raise such a stink over a conversation you heard at a gas station when you could just as easily crack a beer and enjoy your day (unless you think that's stupid, of course), but they're not out writing posts about it. Turn the Karen knob down a bit and you'll have a better time.

TRX is the only Dodge not filling up used car lots right now.

That said kudos to Dodge for even attempting such a truck.

I opted not to get a new Landcuiser so I could afford a 4runner and a Tundra. Lol not gonna spend even more for a Dodge truck, though.

Agreed - and as I said I actually LIKE the truck.

I just wish they would have said it’s a “limited edition” of say 2500-5000 or something. At the price they arent going to sell 10s of thousands and help owners out by maintaining resale.

Nice trucks - but at 100k - there are options for near equal performance at lower cost or that are much more unique.

That’s my biggest point/complaint - it takes zero thought to walk into a showroom and say “I want that” and paying more for s stock truck than a low end house today. You can put a supercharger on Tundra a lot cheaper.

Curious - no exemptions for classics or otherwise “constructed” vehicles.

My point has always been - a Hellcrate motor Is available and what 20k ?

Now that’s just the motor - but with 80k to spend on a build - that’s ALOT of customization you can do - and have something unique for your time/trouble (and likely do it for less).

Yes - you will not be able to walk into your local bank and say - “I’m doing a custom build - I’d like to borrow 100k at 3%” and expect anything but laughter. No - you will or have dealers offering what you paid I trade a year later. But neither of those are really the norm on modern cars - just the recent exception.

I know a man who invested 20k in a Monte Carlo SS when Chevy reintroduced them a couple decades ago - garage kept - virtually no miles on it. Could he sell it today - sure. Would he get half that - probably. But if he had sank 20k into a classic MC at the same time - that car likely doubled. Or could have bought 4 late 80s SS or Buick Grand Nationals and likely made 4-6x the money. Point is - new is not always better.

I can say that the TRX is badass in its own right. The interiors are light years ahead of most manufactures. Who doesn't like 700hp? Would I pay 100k for one or any truck off the show room? No. Pricing for anything now is ridiculous. I'm a car guy and its badass manufactures are doing what they're doing. I may not out run one on the street (maybe) but let's see what happens when the pavement ends.

So a manufacturer actually brings to market a truck that has over 700 supercharged V8 horsepower with extreme reliability, seriously advanced and capable drive train, nicest interior on the market for years now, super tech auto adjusting 5 link coil off road suspension, that can tow over 8K, payload similar to a loaded Tundra, that’s wildly comfortable on the street and off-road, and easily obtained under $100K with a full factory warranty……. and folks still talk trash on it.

Lol, some of you guys kill me.

That might be the first time "extreme reliability" has ever been used to describe a Dodge.

Ram could put out the best truck that ever blessed the blacktop and I wouldnt consider buying one at any price point. Ive already given them 3(too many) chances to make a decent truck. So, Im with you on the hatred of ram or anything else Chrysler Fiat has to offer.
