That's crazy. I used to fish for steelhead where the Blue converges with the McKenzie. My landlord/friend's have a 2nd home in Medford. Crazy times....

We've some bad fires going on here but we just had a crazy cold front with rain and a snow go thru so hopefully it helped. Prior to that front going thru we have had poor air quality and falling ash for days.

My job in Clackamas closed because of air quality. Tomorrow will probably be cancelled too. The smoke is terrible in Portland even.

The news isn't pretty...down in Portland area. Crazy stuff. A friend in Vancouver just sent me this...

That's nuts...I've spent time in Jakarta before and it's not fun. Guess the winds are supposed to turn North and bring the smoke up to Seattle. We were going camping this weekend, but think we'll pass. They're thinking it's going to be as bad as '17 or '18 which was full-on orange sky and nasty.

You guys are living in hell...stay strong and stay safe.

Well, the AQI value doubled overnight. This has to be the one time the weather forecasters are accurate!?!?! @jwatt that website you shared is addicting....I've been checking it regularly. Crazy to watch the pollution travel north. Not sure what area of OR you're located in, but we're not even half way to some of the higher values.

Camping cancelled. The GT family will be playing indoors this weekend.

Hunting has been unsuccessful so far. I had one shot that was complete miss. I miss read my range finder. But I like complete misses opposed to bad hits. Going out this weekend again. I have two more weeks of archery then I switch it over to muzzleloader. Seen a few nice bucks, but they were out of bow range. Too damn dry to stalk. Since I have the multiseason tag, I am being patient as to not chase the deer off of the property i am hunting.

I noticed on the scanners I keep hearing people seen throwing gas/stuff lit out of windows. Sounds like a lot of arrests, but the news doesn't seem to be reporting these as thoroughly as you think they would. Anyone have any articles on it? My parents have been tagging me in FB videos and posts of this... just trying to get an accurate picture as I don't live up there, and my family is all in dangers way.

There have been two separate reports on https://komonews.com/ this week on jack-wagons starting fires. You might have to search for them, or dig into the local news. I've heard of others as well. This is in the Seattle area...not sure about OR. There has also been a serial arsonist in the South Seattle area this summer, but I think they caught him.

It took moving four bikes, two scooters, a crap-ton of camping gear and a free-standing shelf, but I got the truck into the garage. Knew I'd have to do this if we ever had a big storm planned since there are so many trees that could dump branches. Never thought I'd be doing it to avoid ash, but I'm not wasting my fresh paint sealant on that crap. Have to walk out the garage door to get around to/from the driver's side, but I can still easily get to the beer fridge so I'm happy. We hit Costco and the grocery store yesterday, so we're GTG on phud and berz. Just going to stay inside and let the A/C keep us comfortable.

Welp finally got smokey over here. Not bad yet, at least not as bad as when the eagle creek(?) fire started two years ago outside Portland from those kids with fireworks. Supposed to get worse by tomorrow. May prevent hunting if it gets too bad. Will see.

You can scroll and actually see the whole world. Not every area has values though. I was trying to see how bad china was though I didn t spend a lot of time on it.
Same here. I get a 4 day weekend, and I have to stay indoors:annoyed:

This site shows you the size of some of these fires, and how close they are to large metropolitan areas. (It takes some time to load map.)

My friends/landlord flew up to Medford this morning. They have a rental house in Phoenix near Medford. Hard hit. Didn't burn but no water or electricity. Tenants evac'd somewhere. Lots of houses burned down close by but theirs was spared. My brother lives halfway between Eugene and Roseburg in Drain. Lots of smoke. Those fires are pretty close to Eugene and Roseburg. Doesn't look too good up north either. Crazy...a lot of nice timber burning up not too mention the homes and such.

A lot of info on this site. Though I m now certain how accurate it is. There are toggles on the right site one can switch on and off and show specific things. Just click the settings icon in the top right of page. Tomorrows fire potential doesn t look good.
If you turn all toggles off, then turn on one at a time it s a lot easier to read map

I suppose it a coincidense that there are fires very close to Portland, Salem, Eugene, Roseburg, Medford. Some of the biggest cities in Oregon. Yea. It must be a coincidenceo_O

It does seem odd but I've seen several statements from Oregon fire officials debunking most of the internet scuttlebutt about Antifa and/or others starting fires deliberately. Lightening is the usual cause. But then again.......not usual times.......

Did that yesterday. I got a bottle of Bulleit:burp: Should be good for a few days, though probably not before the smoke clears.

My sister's fiance ran someone off from setting fires behind the fire department. Got the tag, red lexus. Came back as stolen...

Katu showed images of fireworks thrown out. Dead body in the median in Medford by the start of the fire.

It's everywhere. Man was arrested north of Puyallup after setting a fire in the median of 169. They think he's the one who set 2 other fires that destroyed homes and businesses in Sumner

At least we’re seeing a good chance of precipitation next week. That’s really gonna help bring some fires under control.
