I fricken hate yard work, but our back yard is a disaster. Torched a bunch of weeds this morning. Well, I got out the torch and followed the wife with the hose. She gets first dibs on burning stuff...Then made a run to the hardware store for 20 bags of compost and 5 bags of pea gravel. Going to move some borders around tomorrow and reseed some grass. Never fun...

what kind of compost? Scott’s? I am trying to get my plan down right now. Not sure if I’m gonna just get bagged compost from HD or while I have the dump trailer rented grab a yard or so from our landscape supply place. Obviously cheaper to get from landscape place just not sure of quality difference.

Feast your eyes on this ladies and gents!
Picking up spark plugs for my wife's Sequoia, saw this beautiful RHD Land Cruiser at the dealer today. I hung around for a few minutes hoping to see the owner to ask some annoying questions, but I had to take off. I love old LC's but I'm not an expert, any guesses on the year?

We use Cedar Grove. I wouldn’t know good from bad compost. My wife says “get this” and I say “ok”. It does seem to work well as ground cover and we put a bag or two into our raised gardens in the fall to recharge the soil.

Plus it’s local, which is always a bonus.

Beautiful rig. Don’t know the year...I started researching those a few years ago to build a custom rig and scared myself. Keep at arms length now to preserve my marriage and sanity.

I forgot...we pay something like $5.50 per bag. I'm sure delivery will be much cheaper, especially in volume. We talked about getting a delivery, but I'm glad we haven't. Once the dirt hits I'd feel like I'm on a clock to get the job done and that's just not how we do yard work.

I bought 20 bags yesterday, thinking that would give us plenty. Turns out we need at least another 20 bags...oh well. The truck sounds great getting into the throttle hauling all that dirt home.

well I am kind of on a timeline so I have to rent that dump trailer again. We finished raking all the rocks and roots from the backfill today. This dirt has a bunch of rocks in it. Starting with a shallow depth with a rototiller in a few areas we haven’t really prepped yet. Then loading all this backfill we have separated which hopefully will fit in a 5x8 dump. Dropping that off at my brothers for backfill for his wall he built them off to grab a couple loads of clean soil. I’m hoping that 4 yards will be enough. Spread that and then the seed, lawn feed, and a final thin layer of some kind of compost/mulch/mix. While that’s getting watered I will start bringing down the 4yards of bark I have sitting waiting for along the front and flower bed areas. All this by Wednesday night....at least that’s the plan.

Well little trip to the craziest place on earth right now....Home Depot. Now I just need to pick up the tiller tomorrow morning and hit the two areas we haven’t touched yet. Then the dump trailer and hopefully just 4yds of dirt. Not pictured the half gallon of Fireball I bought yesterday.

Are all spanner wrenches somewhat created equal or do you have to buy an individual one to the product that it is being used on

:jellydance: I had to do some serious clean up to my cousin's place. Embarrassed to say they are family. Total slobs. Grass was over a foot. Wood everywhere. Plus I found and kept his axe and maul that was barrier. In my opinion the whole place needs torched. The house should be condemned. I am going to make them an offer to buy the place and turn my place into a rental. They've moved to Seattle and left the place. Its close to an acre and a half, I could build to suit after the house is leveled.
    Gorgeous area. Any mushrooms yet?
Not sure. I have only seen a few lifts use them. Other you have to take off to adjust.

Not an expert... but as far as a year goes... I am guessing a 96 or 97. I love those LCs!!!! My questions.. Why doesn't Toyota import the Prado?? That is the platform the FJ Cruiser was built on. I saw a couple when I went to Ecuador. I like those!!! Probably because I own an FJ as well......

Well I missed my Wednesday night goal due to some unforeseen problems. 1. I stated drinking too early(not really the problem). 2. I ran out of grass seed. Ordered a 20# bag from HD to be picked up thinking they could do that in a 4hr window. I was wrong. So the wife grabbed the seed this morning and we just finished about 2hrs ago. Grand total of 2 dump trailer loads of back fill ran to my brothers house. Guessing that was between 10-12k pounds total. 6yds of blended top soil spread. 30#’s of grass seed. 16 bags of Scott’s lawn soil over the seed. And lastly 6yds of bark spread. Now just hoping this grass takes.

    FFFADB6A-576B-4D4B-B3F2-742EB9A0BD97.jpg

Now to get ready to go work a ten hour shift.

hope everyone’s week is going good.

@Juanjoolio007 Yard looks great! I can't tell you how many schedules/plans I've missed when I start with "Well, I started drinking early...". But it's done, so celebrate with another beer!

Happy Friday everyone! This week has been nuts between work and after-work classes (doubled up this week by chance). Wife and I are chilling on the back deck right now enjoying the mid-70's temps and ignoring the increasing humidity as the rains approach. Having pizza delivered in about 15 minutes...and a growler of beer with it! Seemed appropriate since we've already finished the bottle of rose we started an hour ago...My head is going to hurt tomorrow.

@jewsNbrews I'm curious how things are going on the Covid front in WW? People are slowly reverting to "old normal" around here and ignoring Inslee's guidelines. Guess that's why our state doesn't seem to be coming down on the curve, but who knows.

Anyone have any big plans this weekend? The weather going to chit is killing mine, but they were just outside house/yard work.

And I'm glad to announce I didn't get a pink slip (layoff) notice today...cleared for a few more months at least.

    Cheers everyone!

Thank you! Normally I would have just kept working while drinking but I couldn’t leave the Traeger in the driveway and run to HD with my buddy and the wife was out wine tasting. It’s all good though. The front is done. I have to weed the side but there isn’t a crazy timeline on that one.
I can’t wait till we can finish the rock wall on the side yard and the one in my back yard. Fingers crossed maybe late summer.

Not feeling the humidity down here in Tacoma. Kinda close to the Sound, so the temps moderate more. What part of the left side are you in?

I think I found the hot spot of the NW today. Down in Tri-cities for the weekend, wife's getting lasik. 97° today, severe thunderstorms tomorrow.
Looking for a quality lunch spot down here, preferably with to-go beers :D
Got any secret spots around here @Rabidllamas?

Kirkland area...once the sun went down, so did the temps.

I've got two places to visit in the Tri-cities. One is Spunuts shop for donuts, the other is Ethos Bakery for their burger (in a house-made croissant bun). Haven't been to either, but they'll be visited next time I'm over there...
