That would be my concern too. My lab sliced his paw open last year and needed stitches to close it up. It was an ordeal trying to get him to chill out long enough for it to heal. My vet gave me some Trazadone to help calm him down. It worked great. I would ask if you can get some of that as well. Is he crate trained? It might help to keep him on lockdown for at least the first couple days.

I've had three retrievers. My floors look "textured". It's a decorating trend!

Good evening gents...everyone needs to provide a sitrep.

I woke up at 2am from a bad dream and that was that...no more sleep. The good news is I got in 5+hrs of uninterrupted gaming before my kids came down to the TV room. Went back to bed until 10am then cleaned the hell out of the garage. Threw out a large trash bag of random crap and went through all the paint I'd stuffed away in the back of my work bench. I've got 20+ gallons of "old" paint, some of it going back 17+ years to the previous owner, pulled out and set aside. Of all the paint, there's "only" two 5-gallon buckets. There rest is gallon size and smaller. Amazing how much space that takes up. Between that and moving my work chest around, freed up a ton of space.

Got an old tarp that we'll pour the latex paint onto once the weather clears up so it can dry quickly and be put in the garbage. About 5 gallons of oil-based is waiting for the next haz-mat recycling event.

Got the first solid rain happening right now since our new roof was repaired (for the second time). My security camera is still up in the attic and everything looks dry. Looking at the weather radar, it appears we'll get heavy rain all night. Hoping everything is still dry when I wake up.

Hope you all are doing great...

Been crazy busy at the house. Worked last night, got home at 7. Waited for our contractor to get here to do the job site walk for our first of now probably 4 retaining walls being built. Eating lunch then off to take my daughter to her soccer lesson/practice. Getting in some 1 on 1 with an instructor for a few weeks before club tryouts. Then back home to check progress of the wall. Check on school work, then hopefully drinking by 4. I have been awake for about 26 hours so far. Need to make it till 9 tonight so I hopefully sleep through the night. Then tomorrow I am removing the old rock, dirt, grass and weed ugliness from between my sidewalk and curb and replacing with rainbow river rock. Maybe a trip to the nursery for plant type things to fill in the space before I start spreading the 4 yards of hemlock I have sitting in my rv driveway.

Sorry gym you will have to get skipped today.

    Haha thanks.
Just finished my energy drink. Should be good till at least 5. I was like a kid on Christmas waiting for the guys to show up to start building. The excavator has been at the house since Friday. At least I am off till Thursday night now.

I'm looking for a small utility trailer to use around our property. 4x8, 5x9 deck size would work well. Single axle tilt would be even better. If you have or know of one, I'd appreciate the lead. I'm in SW WA. Thanks

So question for you guys...anybody have a good method for starting a new yard? I wasn’t going to plant grass in the front after our retaining wall got built but it turned out a lot more level then I thought. Right now I am at the stage of trying to rake out all the rock and try and get it smooth as possible. Looking at maybe getting some soil blend brought in before we seed. I would do sod but would be extremely mad if it died.

    Hey fellow night shifter!
When we built our house in 2016 we had a company hydroseed our yard. I leveled and used a drag on the top soil before they sprayed it on. Between some minor wind and rain it didn't take well. It's a lot better than it was but we still have some patchy spots.
My bro in-law just laid down sod at his place a few weeks ago and it looks a gd HGTV yard. :censored:

Graveyard life for at least the next 5 years or more!!

we normally can’t keep any plants/grass alive which is why sod worries me. I have started researching new lawn methods and they seem to vary. Bring in new soil, don’t bring in new soil...:annoyed: I just want some gosh darn grass. Is that to much to ask. Oh and it’s going under 100+ft pine trees so needs to be good in shade.

The company sent two guys out and they pulled things apart and applied a bunch of sealant. I rode them like an ass and kept harassing the owner. We've had some heavy, extended rains this week and it's all dry...I'm happy.

My yard is a waste of vision to be honest. We just don't have the energy to keep it up or the interest in using all the chemicals needed to keep the grass green. Years ago I tried, but it was too much work. Hydroseed worked great of us, but I lost the battle to moss. I've heard sod is bad b/c they use seed with shallow roots to make it easier to harvest. I guess you need grass seed that will grow deep roots so it can go for the water...but don't ask me what kind of seed that is...I'm just relaying what yard nerds have told me in the past. I think evergreens and other trees drop things that make the soil bad for grass, so it becomes a battle of Nature vs. Chemicals.

Needles make the soil acidic. You need to "sweeten" the soil with something like lime. Also after seeding for grass, you need to keep it moist but not wet for a long time while it takes and afterward.
