Went on a hike today, apparently too close to a Northern Harrier nest...sons of bitches about took my head off. They attacked me on the way in and on the way out. The grey one is the male. They took turns dive bombing me. For the most part they stayed about 8ft out, the male came within a foot a few times.
EDIT: Upload killed the image quality.

Thx...the fix will be interesting...I had a new metal roof installed about 6 weeks ago. I noticed a leak last weekend and the owner came out last Sunday and tried to fix it. I pulled one of my outside security cameras and put it in the attic so I could confirm it wasn't leaking anymore. Sure enough, it leaked yesterday with the big rains. I've MacGyver'd a small plastic tub and drain hose so any more leaks will run outside thru an attic vent and not do any (more) damage. I know exactly what's wrong, so now my challenge is to convince the owner that I'm right. It will take replacing two full metal panels and moving a vent...not sure how well he's going to respond to that mandate.

Today has been a mixed bag. Slept in...that's good. Church online...good enough. Then I tried to fix the refrigerator with parts I'd ordered recently. It didn't seem to work, but then started working magically. Not sure what to make of that, but if it holds then I'm happy.

A few more things "went south" and I needed another cool-down road trip. I learned it's 105 miles to Ellensburg from my house, the truck purrs like a kitten at 80mph and the cruise control radar gets confused when you're in the center lane trying to pass phuck-wads going slow in the left and right lanes. I can just hear the truck's computer saying "wait; why are you passing down the middle...something doesn't add up!". Sorry truck, you cannot engineer for Seattle drivers.

....so again, I sincerely hope you all had a wonderful and blessed Sunday.

Oh man I hope your week gets better. My work week is about to end and my home work list is growing. I have probably a half dozen or more trips with a dump trailer on Tuesday and Wednesday. Probably driving all over the Portland area at least three times. Oh well at least everything is getting cleaned up.

Yes to all. I have a side biz in photography. It's a rather shitty business because I make no money, but I got a cool watermark out of it! I tried to make money off of photography a while back, and I was pretty successful at it. Over time I developed severe anxiety over it. Mainly a general fear of failing and being judged, so I had to hang it up. I still do it, but only pro bono. If you end up getting me to do something for you, it means you're pretty damn special to me. Gimme a few and I'll post a video of them dive bombing.

Here. I just uploaded a video my buddy took of me photographing them. This is the female. She would come in low then swoop up. The male would come in high and swoop down before peeling off. For that reason I didn't get many pics of him because his angle of attack exceeded the capabilities of my gimbal.

I worked at Corbis Corp years ago, so I have a very limited view into the Photography world. To say it has changed significantly the past decade is a major understatement. Sorry it didn't work out for you...

It worked out for me as it should. I'm very outgoing in person, but extremely guarded about things I hold near and dear to me. In the end I loved my art so much that I didn't want to put it out there to be criticized. My biggest fear was to be hired by someone, only for them to ask for a refund.

Anyone else hearing of covid 19 parties? Apparently the wonderful people in my county thinks it's a good idea to party with the infected in hopes of getting infected. Why? Who the hell knows. I just wish we could refuse treatment to these individuals so they deal with the consequences of their actions. Instead they are going to be putting others at risk.

I have not heard of that but I am not very surprised. Apparently Moms in the 90s would do this with their kids and chicken pox. Something about building up the antibodies. Seems back asswards to me

Actually, chickenpox is a relatively mild childhood disease which you don't want as an adult (it can cause all kinds of problems, including sterility). My family unknowingly caught it from a family which was vaccinated and they still got it. I was 39 at the time and was miserable for weeks. I rest easier knowing my kids are protected without having to keep up with a vaccine with questionable efficacy. So I can understand those who expose for chickenpox on purpose. For corona, not so much.

That's just nuts...shows the pure arrogance and entitlement of people these days. Unfortunately, this really isn't unusual. From a contact/contamination perspective, it's no different than the people I see playing basketball or soccer at the local fields.

With the opening up of business in the country, the estimates for Aug. 4 jumped from 64000 a week ago to 138000 today. Be one of the older population this has my attention. I’m retired so I can stay isolated..

The medical community imo is getting fed up with the “I’m free to die” attitude.

Well, everyone report out on their week and what they're doing for the weekend.

Work has been dog slow, but I got confirmation I'm not part of the layoff plans. Didn't think I was at risk, but you never know...

Washed the truck last night...worked all day, studied for an hour or so and then 2+hrs of class in the evening. Should have done the dishes and other chores, but I went out and cleaned the truck. Needed some zen time. Then got the daughter out of bed and we went for a quick drive to "dry it off". Windows down (no pollen in the air!) and music cranked. She loves driving with the windows down, so I got Dad of the Day award for that one.

Pulled my truck box before I washed it so I could clean behind it...I've got pollen filling in the bed gaps like caulk. Plus, a couple of toys are inbound from Rago...pissed they won't be here until Monday. But need to make some room.

Got a bunch of errands to run tomorrow morning which will be nice. Got a metric ton of sushi pre-ordered for an epic lunch. Then a few chores outside since the weather is going to be so nice. Just spoiling my wife on Sunday and taking dinner to my MinL.

Hope you all get a good weekend in...

I had the day off so I rotated the tires on my wife’s 4Runner and hung out with my daughter. We took a drive over to Idaho and I got gas for $1.79! Can’t complain about that.

On Thursday, Went for a drive to check out the Cowlitz. Did a few casts with my fly rod to get the muscles in action. Had a couple of mini strikes on one fly, no hookups tho. Small trout most likely. Yesterday was lawn day, and BBQ a batch of prerubbed Costco Ribs. A photo of My Backyard is in bloom

Every Mother’s Day, I help the wife plant all her pots. We went to Carpinito Bro’s last night and got all plants and soil. Today we’ll plant, adjust the drip system (and lawn sprinklers). I’m also going to install som new hardwired landscape and driveway lights. All the solar ones we bought over the years are crap.

Somewhere in all this the cars will get a wash, they are still covered in pollen.

Lastly, you’ve got me craving sushi, probably my favorite category of food. My wife won’t eat it, so I don’t eat it as often as I’d like. My two favorites in the greater area are Toyoda Sushi in Lake City (hard to not like the name) and Sushi Cafe in Renton Highlands. Toyoda is an absolute hole in the wall, no reservations, closed M,T. If you sit at the sushi bar, which I often did solo in my 20’s, just ask for whatever the chef recommends, they treat you like a king with lots of sampling on the house. Truly one of my all time favorite spots.

Morning started with a run to Puyallup to restock on pellets...
    0C88339F-23C7-40AF-9FBF-4F3BEFB54A16.jpg

Then to Lake Taps to friend’s house. We went in on some gear together, so delivered his stuff.

Sitting in the truck now waiting for the sushi joint to open up. Walked across the parking got and got some nice rib eye steaks. Plus a couple Wagyu bavette steaks from Snake River Farms. Will work the bavettes into the menu somehow this weekend.

Feels great to be out with the windows down...

That looks like a good time. Is it getting warm over there yet?

I put a whooping 6 or so miles on the truck today. Went to the autoparts store to recycle my old oil and get some tire shine spray. Then over to Costco for fuel. Those are the only miles I've driven since Sunday...and may be the only driving I do this week. Would be cool to see if I could go an entire month on a tank of gas. Guess I need to stop taking those 100-200 mile road trips to clear my head.

Yeah, that's not going to happen...

It's hit 80s already over here. Last two days and this morning were rainy and cloudy. It actually cleared up on our walk. Had to ditch the jacket I was wearing when we started.

I could do the tank a month thing, only 1.1 miles to work for me. But I've been taking time out at my dad's about 20 miles away lately with projects and exercising the dogs.

Good morning PNW! Taking Thor in to get dew claws removed today. Was schedule over a month ago but was cancelled due to the virus.

Good morning Tim, good luck at the vet! Both my pups had that done at a couple weeks old.

Breeder didn't do it for either of mine. Vet recommended sooner the better. I had him scheduled earlier but it was cancelled due to this virus. I heard they are simple if done within a day of birth. Oh well, it should slow him down for a day or two is all. I am more worried with after care, hope he doesn't pull out stiches like my older one did.
