Dang it! We didn’t see any rhino’s. The bear was also not out. The baby cheetahs were pretty cool.
At the end we were watching the flamingos. Then a fight broke out between two of them. Couple seconds later two other ones were fighting.

It was definitely a cool place. The kids loved it and so did the wife. She has a bunch more pictures.

Good morning folks. Any of you have first hand experience with a rotomold coolers? Looking to upgrade and seems there are a lot of brands out there beside the big names like Yeti. Really worth the extra $$ to go with Yeti? Seems like I could save a bit with different brand and put that money towards stuff for inside the cooler or mods for the truck.

There are a lot of quality coolers out there these days. We still prefer Yeti(when we were in Texas they proved worthy in the heat and keeping things cool). Rtic coolers do seem to be a worthy contender as well.

I’ve been half-way eyeballing the Kong ones, but only because I drive by their sign on I5 at the Ridgefield exit every day.

I have seen that sign and looked at them myself. Just saw Coastal Farm has their own line that look pretty good too. Too many choices…

Just checked Kong website - their prices are in line with Yeti (i.e. high).

Fucked up thing is that I know the retail markup is insane on those things but Yeti has a pretty tight grip on what they allow for MAP to prevent undercutting. I just need to find a place that will sell under MAP (without advertising it, you’re technically not breaking the rules).

I don’t like Yeti for two reasons. One, their numbering system isn’t the cooler size. That just drives me nuts. Two, their expensive coolers are made overseas. If I’m paying top dollar, it needs to be made in the USA.

I did a ton of research a few years ago. There is a guy on YouTube that does a lot of really good side-by-side tests. “Coolers on Sale” is the channel. Be ready to nerd out.

I have the Cabela’s version. Had all the features I wanted and was the right size. It works great and has held up well. Not sure I’d get it again simply because it had a huge footprint with the molded in handles and takes up a lot of space.

My Vancouver buddy just had a Kong arrive on Friday. It is super sexy but he hasn’t tried it out yet. I’d also be remiss if I didn’t tell you that one of the latches doesn’t work. Maybe a one-off problem, or a bigger sign of quality issues. I think the cooler itself is keeping the latch from working. Dunno. I’ll report back when it gets fixed.

I’ve always liked Bison coolers. They are made in TX. I fondled one before getting the Cabelas and was very impressed. I’ve been pondering getting a second, smaller cooler and it will probably be a Bison.

Orca coolers are another contender too…

Now I am no expert. I couldn’t even name all the brands. I know there are a bunch. With that being said I started my “fancy” cooler collection with a soft RTIC. Then my daughter started club soccer so I decided to get a hard cooler for tournaments or out of town games. I wanted something easy to transport so I landed on the Yeti Haul I think it’s called. There is a pic of it in my gym pictures a page back. Has wheels on one end and a handle on the other.
I just used it like two weeks ago to take drinks for the guys at work.

Now I didn’t know about the “cool down or sacrificial bag of ice” just tossed in the ice packs, ice, warm cooler, and warm drinks. That ice lasted from Wednesday till about the following Monday afternoon. Pretty impressed.

Now I know to cool the cooler first to help preserve the ice you add and make it last longer.

I guess it depends on your needs. Just make sure to cool everything first if you can.

I have only done a partitioned Murph once. I am in no shape to try that now. Got my you know what handed to me by today’s program A..even with some mods.

I need to clean the inside of mine. Full of dog hair as I ran the pups to and from the groomers this morning.

I may have gone way overboard ordering their stuff a couple years ago. The pet hair brush is awesome on the carpet. I just brush it straight into the vacuum hose.

I need to refill on their interior cleaner spray. I just ran out.

Love that leather cleaner/conditioner kit and the mat rejuvenate kit.

Edit: just ordered a gallon of interior cleaner and a 16oz Pina Colada scent for the wife. 20% off now on Amazon. Pretty sure they have the sale on their website also.

Im the cooler buyer at work. Kayaks, dog gear, and cooler. Do couple thousand high end molded coolers a year into the local market and have been buying the coolers for Next Adventure for about 5 years now so seen an unimaginable amount of brands pitched to me.

I own 6-7 different ones and for the most part they are all the same. Some have better latches, handles, or whatever but for the most part very similar and overkill on insulation for the average person no matter what so dont stress the 1.5" vs 2" arguments and stuff. Dont stress brands, save some.money and invest in Arctic Ice instead itll make a bigger difference than the insulation differences between most of them.

Canyon makes a great product and is probably my favorite for the "Full Price" options. For cheaper stuff we do a house brand and they rock just as hard. Unfortunately Web hasnt got the latest version merchandised so I dont have a link to share at moment but will see what I can get.

Side note- if you decide on a brand I deal in (and I have stock in this crazy time) ill swing you a discount code.

I found it at the local Albertsons when I was picking up some groceries for the weekend. It’s made by Avid out of Bend so you should be able to find it in most of the stores that carry cider selections.

Looking at your website now. Is K2 coolers your house brand? Reading the review you posted.

K2 isnt house, Wilderness Technology is. We are doing a site migration and im missing thousands of SKUs on web but working to resolve it. The k2 stuff is sweet, I still use one and it does well, just a bigger size than I need usually.

I have them in all 4 locations at moment if you happen to be going past one. Portland stores have the most.
