I blasted thru on my way to Birch Bay Tuesday evening, but was not down there on Thursday. So twas’n me.

Got another day trip coming up tomorrow. Have a 9am appt in Moses Lake to get my son’s drivers license. There are no available appts from Bellingham to Olympia until mid-May. He goes back to school next week and there is no way we are letting him take public transportation. The expert level incompetence of our local...oh wait, no politics. Ahem.

Then hauling down to Yakima for tamales (insanely delicious) and to hit up the FEMA vaccination site for our first shot. We decided a short drive to the Yak is way better than getting caught in the cluster-phuk of people and supply issues that’s about to hit the Seattle area.

Hope you all are having a good week.

I just posted this video under the maintenance thread, but in case you don’t see it there, here’s a great vid on out trucks and what to watch out for. https://youtu.be/l2OAHImTgA8

Spent the night at Hotel del Bass Pro. Sirens only kept me up half the night. Family slept great, that's what matters.

Just taking a shot here...any home remodel contractors in the Portland area?

Edit: I guess or trades as I may run this project myself but will need just about everything.

I could do some of it...but not enough to really matter. We had 1 company bid everything and are talking with another on Tuesday. Really liked the first company but they just stopped responding to emails.

LOL. I was going to ask “Which BPS”, but sirens = Tacoma.

Glad to see you’re getting out with the trailer. I did all my de-winterization a month ago, but had to wait on the water system until the cold weather left. Think I’ll finally get to it this weekend.

    Beach days will be great.

We're fully booked actually for the summer. Start at our friends house down in Vancouver next month, then pretty much every other weekend until the end of August. If this weather holds, I think we'll try to get out next weekend. I'm ready for some trailer time.

Hope you and the fam have a great weekend. Post some pics!

That's one of our favorite parks in the state. If we were there, we'd be at that exact same spot at sundown. So eff'n beautiful.

I hope that restaurant in the park made it thru the pandemic. We went there a few times last time we visited FW. Great food and beer.

Our first time on this beach, it's beyond beautiful with this weather.

The restaurant is still open, we plan on eating there this weekend. Got any other can't miss ideas in the area? Food, beer, etc..

There is a farmer’s market Saturday morning on the hill above downtown. It it small, but really good. A bakery there makes these long cheesy breadsticks that we always get. Some of the vendors have great cheese and produce.

There is a small aquarium out on the dock there at FW. Check it out; your kids will love it.

Be sure to explore all the different fort structures. We’ve gone there for 13+ years and only checked out the ones up on the hill last summer. Pretty amazing stuff

    :hattip:Appreciate all the suggestions.

I better test those cheesy bread sticks out, ya know, to make sure they're still good. :D

The better half is taking a Keto break so we're going to enjoy ourselves out here.

This is like a lot of side jobs I used to do, all the way to complete house builds. Don’t know Washington code by heart, but national codes have not changed much. I retired because I didn’t want to go down this road anymore. Sorry to be so little help. Perhaps I could scoot up to help you do a few walk throughs. Framing, rough in, top out. Let me know.

Anything electrical with your remodel, don't hesitate to ask @Juanjoolio007
Not knowing your experience level with house wiring, it's pretty easy with a couple tools and the correct material. You can save yourself a boatload of cash.

I have mainly industrial/ commercial experience in the trade but I'm thankful for the resi jobs that kept our shop going in the slow times. Spent 13 years with that shop.

@gosolo is spot on with the national codes in electrical too. There are changes but the most drastic changes here are on the state level with L&I, WAC changes.

How big of a project is it?

George @Juanjoolio007 is in Oregon if I recall...
I know in WA the electrical permit and code is state-handled, while other permits are city/county level. Not sure in the other side of the river.

Haven’t been on here much lately. I bought a new house and did a full remodel. I did almost all the work myself so I’ve been pretty busy but it’s done now!

Thank you Ray. Depending on how this plays out with this new remodel company on Tuesday and if I could convince the wife we could save a bunch of money running it ourselves would determine our ultimate plan. I do have a couple walls that we want removed. I am pretty positive none are load bearing. The first company didn't seem to think they were.

I purposefully remodeled the exterior of our house first to lock us into this footprint.

Thank you. I have little house wiring experience. I do have electrical experience but I don't know electrical code. This is why I would hire someone to do it or use someone that knows it.

I also used to be brazing certified to install hospital oxygen systems...but I don't have that much to repipe in this project...unless we decided to do it all. Luckily 75% of our plumbing is in the same area(downstairs laundry room, upstairs both bathrooms share a common wall.)

If things go right we are doing master bath complete gut job, tear out part of our closet to give the bathroom more space. Almost everything in the main bathroom is getting re done. The shower can stay as it was replaced before we bought the house. Entire kitchen gut job including one of the wall tear downs. All new flooring in the kitchen/dinning/living room, along with the hallway, stairs and all bedrooms.

If/Or once thats all done the downstairs part would start. That isn't that complicated except we want to put a pocket door for our laundry room/bathroom. Also downstairs there is this freaking weird closet that was built with access only through the crawlspace. I have never understood what the hell anyone would use that for....but its there. Drives me nuts!

If this goes good enough then probably next year I get to bring in an excavator and a bobcat and start playing with our backyard. Me and a friend of mine will do the demo and prep then will have the rest of my retaining walls built and try and finish the concrete work along with the turf install.

You got it right Casey.. I am in Oregon. I am just a few miles from the new Sherwood High school.

Hope all that made sense and thanks guys.

Back to yard work and other chores before I start partaking in some tasty mixed beverages.
