Hey guys. Would love some opinions / experience / insight into a front bumper mounted winch solution vs something like a "More Power Puller". Anyone have some feedback on why one vs the other? Comments or opinions or anything else to share on the subject?

Here's a link to the More Power Puller in case you're unfamiliar. Basically its a come along designed to handle loads our trucks demand.

On the surface, the MPP seems like a nice option. Far cheaper for the same pulling abilities, and mobile... move to the front or rear or 'over there' to another the vehicle... but then again, you're the power source so maybe not so good?

    What am I not considering?

I've had both when I had an FJ cruiser. I used the come-along once and bought a winch. If you're really stuck, you want to be in the car steering and powering out as you pull with the winch. On top of that is safety - if that cable breaks you want to be nowhere near it and the come along puts you right in the line of fire.

If you want something mobile, I'd recommend a front receiver hitch and a winch on a tray with a quick disconnect. You can keep it inside the truck or move it to other vehicles (even the rear).

Tagging Along since I've asked myself the very same questions.

    Where are you located?

If you are in the salt belt, money on a winch is just wrong. I'm in Michigan and we know salt. I've killed 2 winches in the last 20 years. Not from abuse, but from salt .

The power puller will treat you just fine for most situations. And it's easy to move to your next truck.
