First, sorry if there's a more appropriate place to post this. If so I couldn't figure it out.

I'm an on again, off again Tundra shopper. I've got a one ton Dodge diesel w/217K that has been a great truck and I've maintained it with the expectation of getting north of 300K out of it. OTOH, I travel a good bit, that's what the truck is for, and I've got a mind to do another Fl to Alaska trip and there's some pretty remote spots I hit that I'd hate to have a breakdown in, so Tundra keeps rearing it's ugly head.

Today I ran across a one owner 2013 DC SR5 5.7 2WD 6.5' bed w/75K miles priced at $18,500. The guy is 87 yo and getting out of driving. He used it for towing his small travel trailer Fl to Mass once a year. I know my way around a vehicle pretty well and know of the cam tower issue. I couldn't get the cargo capacity from the guy so it would necessitate a trip, about 170 miles one way, to see for myself.

I'd appreciate any opinions on price, suitability for my intended purposes (I pull a 25' Airstream that runs about 6,500#), and anything particular to look out for on this vintage. I don't know the differences between a gen 2 and a gen 3 but if it's less bells and whistles, especially electronic, I'm good with that.

yep. same engine, same transmission and the tow package on gen2s has the trans cooler. later gen 3 tundras dont have it anymore.

looks like a good price. check for rust, dealer records, cam leak, AIP..4x4 ?

2WD, edited my op. Thanks for the bit about the AIP, I hadn't run across that.

not seen as much on 2013 models vs earlier gen 2s though. You can check dealer records for any work done on vehicle if you have the VIN #

Plug the VIN into this website.... https://www.toyota.com/owners/my-vehicle/vehicle-specification. I used this site while looking for my current tundra. It will show the factory options. Make sure you buy a truck that has the towing option as that generally adds about 1000k lb to towing capacity. When I was looking thru the owners manual, there's a foot note showing the increased towing with the optional package. I have to say, that sounds like a really good price, well below what I just paid for my '13 with 90k miles.

Thanks for the web site. It does have the factory tow package. Using the factory specs I get a cargo capacity of about 1,750#. That's doable but my current 3,360# capacity has me a bit spoiled. He's telling me he looked his up and it's 1,475#. I've got about 1,100# of tongue weight so 1,475 would be a deal killer.

It is going to be tough to beat your diesel for towing your damn nice Airstream.
