I am patiently waiting on a 2021 SR5 crew max. I would like to lift the truck and have the option to get it done at the dealer. I have never lifted a truck before but I have done my share of wrenching, I am not looking to go big, something around 3/2. The dealership recommended a 3/2 ready lift. Does anyone have any opinions on this lift kit? The most will be doing with it is is field and hunting trials in Va and sand at the beach. I just want the ride to be good on the road and not not cause problems. I have never had a lifted truck before so just looking for advice and opinions.

in addition what would y’all think would look better for this set up. 295/70/18 or 285/70/18, on a 18x9 wheel with +18 to 20 offset. I would like the wheel set up to be flush or just out a little. Plan on putting bushwacker fender flairs on at some point?
This is all new to me, I have never lifted a truck before. I have read a bunch of the threads but just looking for advice and pictures, if anyone has a similar set up? Thanks!!!

The Readylift 3/2 is a spacer and block kit. It will ride rougher and stiffer on road bumps. I had one for a year and a half before I switched to coilovers. The Readylift kit is $300 so keep that in mind with what they want to charge you.

On to tires, the 285 and 295 are within 3/8 inch of each other. The 295 is 10 lbs per tire heavier. The downside to the 285 is that not many companies make that size. You will notice that all of us here that run the 285 all have Nitto Ridge Grapplers. If you are firm on installing flares and want the tires flush with the edge of the flares, you will want a +1 also known as a 0 offset. Here is mine on a Toytec 3/2 coilover and shackle setup. 285/70/18 Nittos on 18x9 0 offset with BW flares.

When I bought my truck the dealer said they could do a 3/2 lift for $1300. I looked it up on my own and decided that it was $300 parts and the rest labor. For me it would’ve been a terrible deal. And with that best case is that the ride would be no worse, it would definitely not be better.

point is, I depends on what you want and exactly what they are recommending. I waited and did a lot of research and improved the ride both on/off road.

on wheels I got 295/70/17 w a +25 offset. I have the smaller smooth OEM flares and they sit flush.

If you’re gonna lift it, do it right with new shocks. You can fit those tires easy even with a 2/1

Your truck looks great! That is about what I am looking for. Thanks for the info. Did you use toytec shackles, and did you have to put any spacers in to account for mismatch? I have read about alot of people needing to use spacers for sag on one side?

Yes I have Toytec shackles and I did not have a lean so no spacers needed. My coilovers are adjustable so I wouldn't need spacers at all.

I see you’ve already been warned away from letting the dealer do a spacer lift. My work is done….

Which lift do you have from toytec? Did you have to change your UCA’s? I saw the alumina series but it looks like I would still need to add a small set of blocks to get 2 full inches in the back.

I’m in the same boat I researched and researched and gonna go with coil overs and shackles… tires and coil overs are out of stock everywhere it seems. Tire prices seem to keep going up!

Thank you....None, straight forward UCA and Coilovers... I did 1.5 blocks instead of shackles and with TRD sway bars, rides better than stock....Pay once, cry once.
My final decision was from @Tundra234, George's Red Tundra's and his feedback, very helpful... Good luck

I’ll recommend the Toytec as well. Had OME shocks and AAL for the rear on my Tacoma.

I would give them a call and let them know what you are looking for and what you will be doing with it. They’ll point you in the right direction.

Very wise choice. Toytec makes great products and their customer service is excellent! I had the Toytec Ultimate 3" lift on my 4Runner and installed it myself. Not difficult at all. That being said, if you do go this route, you will want to invest in an aftermarket set of upper control arms to correct the camber/caster and bring back closer to spec. Good luck!

Thanks for the input, do you have any suggestions on reasonably priced UCA’s? I don’t need anything super beefy. My truck will not see anything to rough.

Sorry for all the questions but you said you have a 3/2 lift from toytec? It looks like there shackles are 1” or 1.5”. Did you add .5 block to get the additional.5? Which front set up did you choose? Again sorry for all the questions, but thank you for the help!

^^this is the most economical approach that will retain similar on-road ride performance.

Also @PhillyB noticed you mention UCA…you can likely wait on changing out UCA, unless you know you’ll need them to start. I run stock UCA with 20x9 +10 wheels and 35’s on my Tundra, and haven’t had an issue with them. I’m running TRD Pro Fox suspension with Westcott Design lift kit (~3.5/1 lift versus your stock SR5).

Any recommendations on UCA's that are somewhat economical? I know that is funny right.

Man I know I am blowing you up but I did have one more question. Did you put UCA's on your rig. I am seeing alot of people that say I have to put them on but then I am seeing people that choose not too. What is the cut off limit for when it is a must? Thanks for help!

Anything 3 inches and higher will need them to get a true alignment. I have SPC's on mine.

I agree with excelsuspension. I went to Toyota today to see about getting a 3/1 lift because i have a 2021 tundra and wanted it to be under warranty. they told me anything pass a 2'' lift needs a upper control arm. so when they do the alignment it will be in spec. Also he said they don't even touch it if not getting the upper control arm. it will run me 1800. My question is what company are they using for the upper control arms and lift? in Alabama by the way.

I’ve had the dealer installed 3/1 kit for about 3 years now. Dealership did one alignment and I’ve had another shop do 2 without any issues and stock UCA’s.

With that said, I’m in the process of swapping to coil overs and shackles. Will see how everything settles, may put UCA’s in after that conversion…
